The Samsung SWA-5000/XAA Rear Stereo Amplifier comes with its own dual band transmitter that slips into a custom slot in the back of 2010 or later Samsung receivers, amplifiers and home theater in a box (HTiB) sets.
Here's how it works: After you've got your compatible Samsung product set up, you slip the included transmitter into its special slot in the back. Then you use the included speaker wires to connect your SWA-5000/XAA to the left and right surround speakers of your choice (speakers are not included). Then plug in your SWA-5000/XAA, turn it on, and you've got real surround sound.
Now if you're an astute reader you probably caught the fact that there are wires in this wireless setup.
The wires you eliminate with your SWA-5000/XAA are those long runs you have to either bury under the carpet, tack to the baseboard or, if you live alone, never have visitors, don't drink and like to live in the fast lane, just leave lying on the floor (but we still don't recommend that last one; call us scaredy cats).
In a typical home theater setup your main viewing and listening position is a couch or some recliners near the rear of the room. So you can easily plug your SWA-5000/XAA into a wall socket behind the couch and chairs, and just run a short length of wire on either side of your couch. It's not totally wireless but it's an affordable alternative to a very expensive completely wireless system.
When you're ready to step up to a completely wireless system come back and have your credit card handy. We have some great systems you're sure to love. But they're nowhere near as affordable as your SWA-5000/XAA is.
Note:The SWA-5000/XAA is not compatible with Samsung's pre-2010 models.

The wireless receiver works great and couldn't be simpler to set up. No configuration necessary, just plug a few things in.[$] is a little pricey for this piece, considering all it does it get you wireless speakers - but removing wires from across you living room sure is nice.I purchased this when I got my Samsung HT-C6600 BluRay Home Theater System and this is where the cost makes sense. The Samsung HT-C6500 (note the model number difference) is rated as one of the best Home Theater in a Box systems by a lot of respected tech-review sites, however it is significantly more expensive. The C6600 is pretty much the same system as the C6500 and C6900, both of which are more expensive. The specs on Samsung's site, as well as other retailers, show that they are virtually the same. The only real difference is that the 6900 includes this wireless receiver as part of the system. So, purchasing the C6600 and then this wireless receiver separately gets you the same system but cheaper than buying it as the 6900.Regardless of why you buy it, it works for what it's supposed to and is easy for anyone to set up. I've only had it a few weeks so far, but I'm happy with it.

Still fiddling...
Still attempting to hear any output from rear speakers. Very limited instructions came with the unit, and somewhat complex and confusing "setup" instructions haven't made the job any easier.

I use this wireless amp in my master bedroom with my HT-C5500 home theater. The sound is awesome. Much better than I expected for something wireless. I look forward to watching DVD's with explosions and gunfire to enjoy the sound coming from the surround system. I haven't found any defects as of yet. I did have a problem finding one until a few weeks ago. Samsung should not make it so difficult to buy these.

Set up of this kit couldn't be easier. It's nicely color coded exactly the same way the surround sound pack is. I set up the entire speaker system in like 20 minutes!
They aren't too far from the receiver but the quality has been good so far, no distortion, static or anything like that.
I'd recommend it to anyone purchasing compatible Samsung speakers.

Comments about Samsung SWA-5000/XAA Rear Stereo Amplifier:
I bought the SWA-5000 to complement the HT-C5500 blu-ray home theatre system I bought. I originally bought a generic wireless rear speaker kit that was recommended by the sales person. Upon opening up the generic system I realized it was much more complicated, involved many other pieces and controls. I ordered the SWA-5000 and it was incredibly easy to hook up. Insert the wireless transmitter into the blu-ray player, plug the wireless receiver into the wall, plus the speakers into the receiver and set it up through the auto set up function on the blu-ray player. There were no extra settings, no extra knobs, dials, controls or anything at all. It sync'd up with no problems, there is no lag with the rear speakers, it's a minimal amount of extra gear in my living room and it matches the Samsung theatre system that it is designed to work with very well. It requires no maintenance, or upkeep that I am aware of. I have nothing bad to say about it.

Comments about Samsung SWA-5000/XAA Rear Stereo Amplifier:
Samsung HTIB rear speakers are not amplified. The SWA-5000 is a wireless receiver and a amplifier for the rear speakers.
Of course you have to run a speaker wire from this amplifier(placed in the rear of the room) to each of the rear speakers.

Comments about Samsung SWA-5000/XAA Rear Stereo Amplifier:
Easy to set up and functions just fine. My complaint is that I would have preferred a module to be attached to the rear speakers to recieve the wireless signal. Instead, the base transmits to the pictured receiver box and the rear speakers connect to the receiver by wire. Not then a totally wireless solution but doable for my room. I you need a totally wireless solution look elsewhere. Otherwise, easy to do but a bit pricey, and should have been included in the system.
Comments about Samsung SWA-5000/XAA Rear Stereo Amplifier:
As described, works great, instructions vague so it took about 30mn to figure out.

This wireless receiver was ordered to compliment a HT-C6500 Home Theater System. The receiver and rear speakers were installed and operating within a few minutes of opening the box. The rear speakers sound great and I recommend this unit.

Comments about Samsung SWA-5000/XAA Rear Stereo Amplifier:
The Samsung Wireless Amplifier was a snap to hook up, small enough to hide away on a small shelf, and worked great from the start. I'd highly recommend it if you're trying to clean up some of those wandering rear speaker wires!!
