Comments about APC Smart-UPS 750VA LCD 120V:
My computer is connected to the new Smart_UPS replacing an older model which only had a serial connection.
This model comes with both serial and USB connections. Both cables came with the UPS.
Installation is a breaze. The supplied software walks you through the install porcedure. It easily found the UPS which was connected using the supplied USB cable.
There is remote management software included, that once installed on other computers having an APC UPS, will allow managing them from one computer.
The new front display replaces the individual idiot lights of older model UPS. Error messages can be read and the easily corrected.

Comments about APC Smart-UPS 750VA LCD 120V:
After taking a couple power hits I bought this to protect a 27" iMac. The load sits at 29% so it has plenty of power to keep the machine up during a power outage. Not sure how long it will last, I haven't tested it.

Comments about APC Smart-UPS 750VA LCD 120V:
It's always a good idea, not to mention the cheapest insurance, to have a surge protector and an uninterrupted power supply to protect your gear and information when the grid fails you. But the newer Macbooks, as well as other models and some DOS machines, require internal sine wave conditioning and the older and standard Back-UPS models don't provide this. They generate square waves which can create subtle glitches in running programs. Many of the folks at Apple don't even know this.
The Smart-UPS would've received 5 stars but for the incomplete set-up instructions which online phone help promptly amended.

I use this product to run my new iMAC. I've had the UPS System a little over a month and it works great. If you are a mac user than the set up is really easy. There is a LCD screen on the front panel that lets you know the Load capacity as well as the battery life.

Comments about APC Smart-UPS 750VA LCD 120V:
The model I received from B&H was defective out of the box. Gave "battery not connected" visual and audible warning, even though battery was connected per instructions. Spent 45 min on phone with APC tech support troubleshooting unit. They deemed unit defective and shipped a new one same day and emailed UPS label for return shipment on their account. Replacement unit is great. Use for small business server. Smart UPS is a great upgrade from RX/RS series.

Comments about APC Smart-UPS 750VA LCD 120V:
The interface for this UPS is very elegant and easy to use even in spite of the fact that there are numerous advanced control options. APC seems to have a solid grasp of what's relevant when managing power.
