The 2big Network 2 from LaCie is a NAS that can be used for complete backups of your computers, media servers, and more. The NAS supports RAID 0 and RAID 1, giving you flexibility in storage and security. It also supports hot-swapping in RAID 1, allowing you to quickly change a failed HDD to preserve the integrity of your data.
The NAS sports 2TB of storage space, and has a USB port and an eSATA port for added expandability. The spacious hard drives allow the NAS to function as a server for iTunes or as a Time Machine backup system. It is managed through an intuitive user interface, making the 2big Network 2 a perfect NAS for your needs.
Note! This network drive can only be connected to your computer through a Ethernet connection. The USB and eSATA ports are for expansion only.

We are you using this in a small business enviornment with 3 users. The Drive was incredibly easy to set-up and to use. The remote capabilities are a real bonus as well. Glad I went with this one.

clean, quiet, and easy to use. If you want quality and stability this is the nas raid system to buy. Love you can access the drive from a remote location; all I need now is a dedicated ip address and it would be accessible from any computer anywhere. Love the expandability adding USB external drives.

Comments about LaCie 2big Network 2 (2TB):
One thing I realized immediately is that for most printers and external Hard Drves, you can't connect both, just one or the other, since it only has one USB A input. Most Printers and External HDs use a USB B output which leaves you with only one choice for how to connect them to the Hard Drive since most cables are B to A. Unless your External Hard Drive has eSATA, you can't extend an External Hard drive AND connect a Printer to use as a print server at the same time.
It's not quiet, but I like that it gives the option to turn the big blue light off.
It's also extremely slow when transferring data over a wireless network, about 10 times slower. That's a bit extreme.

Comments about LaCie 2big Network 2 (2TB):
This is the fourth of these drives that we've purchased for use as a back up and transfer drive in a radio production studio. We make pretty heavy use of the drives and have been only pleased with their performance and ability to keep up with our multiple users. We've had many hard drives fail. No LaCie failures as of yet!
