The Panasonic AG-HMX100 Digital AV Mixer consists of a multi-format video switcher, an audio mixer, frame synchronizer, and digital effector and supports 1080i/720p HD and SD formats. To ensure broadcast-grade images, it offers 12-bit internal processing speed and full 4:2:2:4 digital component. The AV mixer includes a wipe pattern that lets you switch between 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios. It features 7 video inputs with PC image support and 6 video outputs. Using the intuitive control panel, you can choose from over 100 wipe patterns and mixes with effects like chroma keying, luminance keying, DSK, and fading with M/E and DSK preview as well as built-in digital effects including mosaic, defocus, monocolor, still, strobe, multi-strobe, etc.
Up to 10 audio sources, which include AUX and MIC input, can be mixed using a fader control. It also provides output via PGM, PVW, and AUX terminals and XLR (L/R) and pin terminal (L/R) analog outputs. Audio effects include pan, 3-band equalizer, voice changer (pitch/level), and mute effects. Audio levels are displayed as a multi-view overlay on the LCD screen. Using the Multi-Viewer function, you can display video sources, audio levels, and a waveform monitor in multiple windows on a single display.
A large LCD panel with a 5-column, 3-row matrix menu automatically displays setting items depending on the operating status. A rotary switch is also included for choosing from settings with several selections.
Supporting switched transmission of 3D camera images, the AG-HMX100 Digital AV Mixer operates as a 3D video switcher with dual SDI signal inputs from 3D cameras with only the switcher function operational while in 3D mode. Simul and Side-by-Side 3D output methods are supported by the mixer, and up to four 3D cameras can be switched when 2 AG-HMX100 Digital AV Mixers are connected.
For audio-visual applications, the Digital AV Mixer can be connected to Panasonic projectors via DVI-D, HD-SDI and RS-232C connections to control the projector’s power and shutter settings. Additional features that offer ease of operation include pattern presets, event memory, key learn, joystick controller, and a numerical keypad. Offering a flexible user interface, the AG-HMX100 Digital AV Mixer is ideal for use in schools, hotels, government facilities, corporations, public access channels, event producers, and in mobile or portable applications.

Comments about Panasonic AG-HMX100 Digital AV Mixer:
This mixer is loaded with features and effects. However, it cannot take analog signals, nor mix different kinds of signals. This made it very difficult for us to use here in a provincial TV station in the Philippines. Even the Panasonic P2 camera apparently isn't compatible with this piece of equipment.
Making things even more difficult is the lack of support for professional Panasonic equipment here in the Philippines. Because of this, it took us some time to figure out why the mixer wouldn't work outright.
For the price of this mixer, we could have bought 5 simpler ones that we could have immediately put to good use in our studios. Instead, we are stuck with this one, and we have to spend even more money to buy analog to digital converters just to be able to use it.
This purchase is one that we certainly regret.

Comments about Panasonic AG-HMX100 Digital AV Mixer:
We are a church that was looking for an affordable way to make the HD upgrade, and looked to the Panasonic AG-HMX100 because of it's compact design, multi-format capabilities, and loads of features that come built-in.
So far it has far exceeded expectations, working perfectly straight out the box with just a small amount of setup configuration. The intuitive layout of controls make it easy to train volunteers, and the DSK feature (my favorite) allows us to overlay graphics and words on top of the video as we're mixing it.
Thanks Panasonic! We look forward to years of quality video production with this mixer.

Comments about Panasonic AG-HMX100 Digital AV Mixer:
For the cost, this really is one of the better switchers I've worked with. It provides real flexibility like assigning cross points and inputs, and gives you the best of both SD and HD worlds. What would be even more fantastic is if it played in both worlds at the same time, but alas, it does not. The embedded audio over SDI inputs is a great option. The audio faders and video transition t-bar seem a little loose and flimsy for comfort, but everything functions cleanly. The menus are simple and straight forward. The built in computer/DVI input seems to have a hard time capturing the signal at times, but once its in works fantastic and very cleanly. The effects are clean and have great functionality and flexibility. The projector remote communication function is a great way to have greater control over IMAG and live events. This switcher provides options only available on switchers 3 to 4 times this price point.

Comments about Panasonic AG-HMX100 Digital AV Mixer:
This thing has been exactly what we needed and I'm loving it. The HD quality at this price point is crazy. Also, DSK is huge for us as a church. We're using it from our Mac tower which is sending both Key and Fill signals. The mixer handles the two feeds with extreme clarity and perfection. The multi-source preview monitor is a thing of beauty, and alleviates the need for multiple monitors. I don't know if there's any other feature I would want added.
