Watch TV directly on your computer with the EyeTV Hybrid from Elgato. The compact device plugs into a USB port on your computer and connects to your cable or antenna and lets you use your computer as a full featured television. The EyeTV 3 software provides a variety of DVR features, including video capture and fast-forwarding and pausing shows. The EyeTV Hybrid includes a remote control and a year's subscription to TV Guide program data.

Super-Small TV Tuner
The EyeTV Hybrid packs a lot of features into one very small TV stick. Whether you get your TV signal from cable or from an antenna, EyeTV Hybrid delivers a big TV picture live to your Mac or PC. To watch and record basic cable channels on your computer, simply connect EyeTV Hybrid to the coaxial cable coming straight from the wall; EyeTV Hybrid receives unscrambled digital and analog cable TV. EyeTV Hybrid also connects to your TV antenna to receive the huge variety of TV shows that are broadcast over-the-air for free. The quality of digital TV that is available with an antenna looks spectacular on your computer's high-resolution display, particularly the many shows that are broadcast in full HDTV.
Superb Quality
EyeTV Hybrid records digital TV in one quality setting, Lossless. The digital stream is recorded unaltered for full quality digital content as encoded by the broadcaster. EyeTV also supports closed captioning and Dolby Digital sound.
Capture Video
EyeTV Hybrid can capture video from analog sources such as a set-top box, a VCR, or a camcorder. Simply connect the video source to your computer using the included video cable for composite (RCA) or S-Video; then watch and even record the picture on your computer in standard definition. In the US, EyeTV 3 software offers additional support for set top boxes. EyeTV Hybrid processes analog video using the encoder built into the EyeTV software together with your Mac's processor. As a result, the quality of analog recordings depends on the power of your Mac.
Made for the Mac
With its clean lines, matte aluminum finish, and surprisingly small size, EyeTV Hybrid is the premier accessory for anyone who appreciates well-designed gadgets. It features a USB 2.0 interface for the streaming of superior quality, digital TV content and requires no external power supply.
EyeTV 3
The included EyeTV 3 software from Elgato turns your Mac into the coolest TV and DVR in the house. This award-winning software enables you to watch and record TV on your Mac, rewind, fast forward, and pause live TV, search a comprehensive Program Guide (includes one year of free TV Guide data, with optional renewal for only $19.95 per year), set up schedules to record your favorite TV programs, and edit out unwanted content. EyeTV 3 software offers special features for Mac users, including Smart Series Guides, Smart Playlists, automatic exports to iTunes, and support for the EyeTV for iPhone app.
Windows PC Compatibility
You can use EyeTV Hybrid with a Mac or PC. EyeTV Hybrid is compatible with Windows 7 and works great with Windows Media Center.

Comments about Elgato Systems EyeTV Hybrid:

Wr had some bad storms recently and the power was knocked out. Suddenly, we had a need for for some way to get the weather channels in case of a downed line.
    Ergo, the Eye TV.
I hooked it to the Mac and an antenna It cranked right up without a hitch. The video quality is as good as the TV. I hook the Mac to the big screen, sit back, & enjoy.
Now to get an extra Mac battery.

Elgato Won't Stand Behind its Product

Comments about Elgato Systems EyeTV Hybrid:

As many others have already addressed, this device will stop working within two months of use due to it's cheap design. The software will fail to recognize the device and you are left with a useless piece of plastic.

I contacted Elgato and went through their warranty department, only to be told that mine wouldn't be covered because I did not buy my product from an "authorized" reseller. Even though I purchased my product new in box (still sealed), they said they can't "guarantee the quality of the product" otherwise. Excuse me? Did you catch the fact that it was NEW IN BOX? Elgato is the company responsible for packing these devices, so if the quality wasn't there to begin with, it's nobody else's fault but Elgato's.

Most companies don't care where you purchased their products, they still stand behind them, but apparently Elgato sees it differently.

Do yourself a favor and instead of buying this piece of junk, do what I did and get yourself a Monsoon Vulkano Flow. It's much cheaper, works MUCH better with higher resolutions, offers you access to all of your channels AND recorded DVR content either locally or from anywhere in the world where you have a network connection, and most importantly they stand behind their products! Pretty soon Elgato will be out of business thanks to the Vulkano, and in my opinion, that can't happen soon enough.

Great for watching unencrypted digital cable channels. These days it's just mostly the main broadcast networks (CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, PBS, etc.) but for those who don't wish to pay for cable it's a great solution. Works with an antenna as well to receive over-the-air HDTV signals.

Use this to pull in TV signals for distribution across and in-house digital signage system. Easy to use and the install was quick.

The only problem I have was there was no way to program channel selections. I've used ATI HDTV and the software allowed programming channels, turn on/off, throughout the day.

Comments about Elgato Systems EyeTV Hybrid:

This device works, but the image quality is impaired, depending upon signal strength. If the input is at all weak, the picture breaks up, sometimes badly. Even a costly, roof-mounted antenna will not deliver satisfactory signal strength for this tuner. Also, it runs extremely hot, which suggests that its lifetime is limited, since electronic device longevity is controlled to a major degree by overheating.
