We use this drive for preliminary review and archiving of digital photos. This requires viewing literally hundreds of photos at a single sitting. This drive is larger than we probably need for this funtion, but we've gotten tired of constantly having to upgrade our storage drive as we exceed storage space. The only negative is that the drive is slow (5400 RPM and USB 2.0 interface), but we knew this when we bought the drive. We wanted to get the most reliable drive we could, and this one fit our budget. Overall an excellent value.

While this hard drive is very reasonably priced, simple, and nice-looking, the USB cable disconnects far too easily, which makes it entirely unreliable in my opinion.
Within the first hour of using it, the cable disconnected 3 times without my doing.
I would not recommend this hard drive until the USB port is updated. Until then, you'd risk damaging your hard drive and data because it will continually disconnect from your computer without ejecting first.

I use this drive for my video projects. It's not the fastest, being USB 2, but it does the job reliably. Great price.

Have been using 1TB version for a while and got this for my brother. Great product for the price. Wish they give the backup software along with it.

Comments about Western Digital 750GB WD Elements Portable SE Hard Drive:
I purchased this product to be used as a backup drive for my son's college laptop. It has enough capacity to store a complete hard drive image plus additional space for other usage.
It doesn't have to be the fastest drive, or the biggest. It just has to be there in case of an emergency.

Excellent product. However, its not 750GB, its 700GB. Nevertheless, still the best value for money.

So far, this drive has been excellent.. but longevity is the main thing I'm concerned about with it. So get back to me in about a year or two for a real review of this drive.

Straight forward product, no extra things on the drive that pop up and try to install, just a plain simple external hard drive.
Well worth the money B&H charges for this device.

Comments about Western Digital 750GB WD Elements Portable SE Hard Drive:
I purchased this drive for [$], which seemed to be an excellent price for a 750GB pocket drive. At such a price, I didn't expect a lot of speed, and in fact this is the case. Seems to be no faster than about 23MB/s, and that's on a dedicated USB controller. Too early to comment on reliability.
