This Amphibico XDAmphibicam X3 electronic and mechanical underwater housing is for the Sony PMW-EX3 high definition camcorder. This amazingly compact broadcast rig is a limited production semi-custom housing. There might be some delays after ordering, but it is worth the wait. Built with marine grade aluminum and marine grade brass with stainless steel hardware the housing allows use of your broadcast camcorder to depths down to 330'. Secure lockable safety latches will help keep your camcorder safe, but if there is a problem the visual leak alarm on both grips will warn you in time to avoid disaster.
Electronic and mechanical controls allow you to access all camcorder functions such as white balance, gain, shutter speed, iris, and manual focus. In-order to compose your footage, the housing has a window to view the camcorder's own HD LCD monitor. Other features include a color bar display, sensitive dual hydrophones, and a talley light. Video out for surface feeds or audio feeds are not a problem since the housing has 4 auxiliary ports for that purpose.
The optics include a bayonet mounted, fully coated, dome port that will correct the size distortion that occurs underwater. For wide-angle work an EX 0.75 Aspheric Wide Converter, and special dome port kit is available from Amphibico. Keep in mind this is the only wide-angle that will work in the housing. All of these features will allow the professional or prosumer underwater videographer to create broadcast quality HD footage while still being able to enjoy their dive.
