I purchased this book because the material that is packed with the camera is not very informative. This book, "Canon EOS 7D" has a no nonsense approach and explains the Canon 7D completely. The Canon 7D is an advanced photo making camera and you want to know all there is to know about the camera to take advantage of it's advanced functions, so I recommend this book.

I bought the Magic Lantern dvd for my first camera , Canon XTi, and found it very helpful, and while they did go over the buttons on the 7D, I found it to be VERY general, no real advice for best usage, for example the focus system, which is why I bought the 7D, his advice was, too advanced for most users, I recommend using it on center focus and leave it there. !! I was very disappointed with actual learning from this product, I found better tutorials on youtube, also the examples were the same ones from my XTi dvd from 3 years ago!

This is a great quick start for someone new to a nice digital SLR. The DVD includes over 1-1/2 hours of key setup pointers. It covers all the buttons. Bottom line - I could use this wonderful camera (EOS 7D) after finishing this DVD and Book.

This product helped me get a quick start witht he DVD, but as an expeienced photographer, I expected much more specific information about the 7D in the book, similar to the other Magic Lantern series books. This book is good for those who want a fast start and to learn about camera basics, I felt that it missed the mark.

If you can't afford a personal instructor, and if you find reading instruction books technically mind-boggling, the multimedia workshop is the perfect solution! The videos are presented in a way that is both informative and encouraging. A great feature is that you can click on an individual topic to review if you don't wish to watch the whole presentation. The book is an excellent companion piece. A truly 'Dynamic Duo' !!!

Upgraded to 7d from Rebel Xsi and wanted a quick re-orientation to new layout. Book has two DVD's. One in front is general digital camera stuff. One in back is specific 7d stuff. Text in between a bit boilerplate and general. Main value in the DVD in the back. Most other stuff good for people upgrading to a high quality SLR from a good point and shoot, does good job of explaining difference in approach between two types. Does not start from zero and gets to useful info quickly. Significant valuable info on using 7d for video.
