I needed a fast printer and a printer that prints on both sides of a sheet automatically. This printer does all that. It was a simple setup, using HP Smart Install, for a network of five computers. Printer arrived on time as promissed and in good condition. No usb cable, but is was not needed for network installation. HP with this printer does not provide a full toner cartrige, just a starter one with less than half toner in it. That certainly is not a plus and does not speak well of their business practices. Installation instructions are skimpy, and there is no printed user manual. There is a user manual on a CD and HP website.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard LaserJet Pro P1606DN Printer (Monochrome):
If you just need a black and white printer with great quality. I hit print it spits it right out! I have been using Inkjets (HP, Epson, Dell) and I dont miss them at all. The 1606DN is incredibly fast. No waiting for it to warm up. It Finishes printing in 3 Seconds from the time you hit print. I will never again buy an inkjet for business purposes. The way the paper tray is setup. Its easy if you have letter head and need to send one individual sheet through also. For the price its 6 out of 5 stars

It prints fast and flawlessly. Very basic, but it does what I need it to do- laser print with duplex capability.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard LaserJet Pro P1606DN Printer (Monochrome):
Fast and good quality printing. A little noisier than my last HP laser printer. I like the fact that it cuts itself off after a few minutes of idle time. Also like that you can feed an envelope or check through the top feed without having to use the bottom feed where the regular paper is.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard LaserJet Pro P1606DN Printer (Monochrome):
This printer is used as a workstation printer for a local government agency. We have purchased a number of them and they perform flawlessly. The ability to connect via USB or Ethernet is a nice feature as well as the built in duplexer.
Another nice feature is the ability to operate in a quieter mode is you are willing to sacrafice a little speed. However, the speed on quiet mode is fast enough for most people. About 25% of our users have opted for the quiet mode, especially those who are often on the phone while printing.
Teh Smart install is a nice feature and means you can install without having to use a CD. Very clever.
Can't really think of any negatives concerning this printer. HP did a great job on this one. Hope they keep it around for awhile as we will definitely be buying many more.

Got this one to replace an HP IIIp, was just too slow, and had no standby or duplex. This thimg is fast and clear.

Set up was very easy, except lots of software updates to download. Worked perfectly right away -- the double sided printing is great in such an affordable unit. Integrated in my Windows/Mac network without a problem, though the Mac defaults needed to be removed in favor of the jet direct setting (which works fine).

I'm really liking this printer. It's fast and the print is very good. One of the reasons I selected this printer is the two-sided printing. It works great. The only down side is it is louder than other printers I've owned. I would recommend this printer.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard LaserJet Pro P1606DN Printer (Monochrome):
I bought this specifically to get fast black and white printouts. Previously I'd always used a color ink jet, and the large amount of time it took to get the first page printed (when much of my printing is one page) became highly aggravating. This printer gets the first page out fast, and that's what I wanted.
Also very good: all I did was hook it up to my home network, and leave it on all the time, since it goes into power save mode automatically. So my Windows PC and Mac both print to it without having to go turn it on.
