I use this with my Canon 7D. As you know, these cameras don't have pro audio, so you have to create your own solution. Mine involves this mount, two Sennheiser wireless lavs, an Audio-Technica shotgun and the Zoom H4n.
I opt to mount it horizontally; vertically just seems to stretch the whole shooting system too high for my taste.
What I like about this is, if you're by yourself, you can mount your entire audio config to the camera. Alternatively, you can unscrew the mount quickly and your entire audio config is self-contained and could be monitored by a sound op completely apart from you.
Looking at promo pix of the mount, it might seem possible to mount only two mics, max. That's not the case. With the Sennheiser lavs, for example, you can configure them with their (supplied) perforated plates and mount adapters in a surprising range of options. So I've mounted two lavs on the top ends, and put my shotgun (with its shock mount) in the middle. I don't mount anything on the side end b/c of balance considerations (which *is* something to consider and work toward when mounting your mics).
I also opted to mount my Zoom H4n to this mount in a non-traditional way: velcro. This allows me to have the Zoom display (with VU meters, etc.) facing me. I just put a couple of strips of velcro on the back of the Zoom, a couple of strips on the back of the BeachTek, and I stick it on there horizontally.
The whole thing is amazingly compact, and my entire audio config cost only the amount of this BeachTek (excluding mics, of course).
If you're running your whole system by yourself, and you're trying to keep costs down, this is a good solution.
Of course, this adds weight to your camera, but if you love the DSLR's image and capability (and I do), it's an option worth considering.
And remember, the whole audio package can separate in about 3 seconds, adding another advantage to this set-up.
Note that the BeachTek comes with a couple of different rubber inserts for the adapters. One is stronger than the other; use the strong one. The weaker one "gives" too much, I think, when tilting the camera.
I've also seen concerns about damaging the camera shoe by using this mount as a handle. I think that's probably a reasonable concern, and my advice is ... don't use the mount as a handle.
I'm not sure I would peg cons to the product; the real con is that current DSLRs mean you have to work-around for pro audio. I surveyed various options and rigs and learned a lot from others who shared their set-ups. I eventually opted to try this mount. Seems like a good choice for me.

I was pretty excited about this bracket. I expected durability, but got cheap plastic. I was using it to mount two speedlights so I could reduce the power output of the speedlight and get faster recycle time and / or use them full power and overpower the sun. The bracket was pretty wimpy and wobbly (due to the rubber and plastic adaptor at the pivot point) and the weight of the two speedlights (maybe 10 lbs tops) bent the rubber, and the cheap hotshoe part of the adaptor broke off in 3 places. An [$] piece of gear should be a little more durable than it was. I was very dissapointed and wish I could return it.

Comments about Beachtek MultiMount 5D Camcorder/Camera Accessory Shoe Bracket:
Fortunately I did not pay for mine. It came bundled with a Beachtek DXA-SLR Active Audio Adapter that I am using with a Nikon D7000.
The concept and size are perfect! Unfortunately the bottom hot shoe mount which attached to the camera has a rubber spacer that allows the mount to wobble considerably.
Beachtek does supply what they refer to as a heavy duty mount unfortunately even using a very light weight led light and a Rode Mic, the bracket sways back and forth to the point that you are convinced it will break.
If the hot shoe mount were solid it would also make a great handle for very low angle run-and-gun shooting.
Nice try Beachtek - the price was right but the product is stashed in a drawer and considered unusable. :-(

Comments about Beachtek MultiMount 5D Camcorder/Camera Accessory Shoe Bracket:
I love everything about this EXCEPT the hot shoe that mounts to your camera. It is flimsy and while they do include a more heavy duty base that you can swap out... it is very difficult to access the screw to change the bases and even after making the change there is too much wobble in the mount.

This is great thing to have when you don't want to carry a bunch of shtuff in your pockets. On the other hand, it can get a bit too bulky - sitting there up on top your camera. Of course, it will only seem that way if you have a small camera, like me. I recommend this highly if you have a nice big camera, bigger than a camcorder.

When mounted with the given options, this device works great for the various shoe hook-ups you need as a one-man-band. The only issue is that there is no articulation.
