The Dan Dean Solo Strings Advanced (DDSSA) from Dan Dean is a single DVD library comprised of violin, viola and cello samples released in the Native Instruments Kontakt 2 Player. The instrument is loaded with programming features, advanced scripting and Ensemble Presets.

The virtual instrument was designed to have plug-and-play/drag-and-drop functionality - find the instrument you want, open it and play. Sustain pedal controls and keyboard velocity behave is you would expect them to. And adjusting attack and sustain is readily available via MIDI.

All-In-One Instruments
  • Feature all articulations of each solo instrument (violin, viola and cello) accessible via key switching
  • All 6 articulations are laid out on separate key switches - arco, spiccato, pizzicato, tremolo, half step trill and whole step trill - allowing for instant articulation switching
  • Legato control via MIDI or pedal is implemented
  • Special Short Attack sound files were created in addition to attack and release controls available via MIDI
  • Alternation is also included in this group of instruments
Voice Control instruments
  • Proprietary ensemble building technology transforms the Solo String samples into lush ensembles
  • Using Voice Control you can access a solo instrument, 3 instruments or 6 instruments via key switching or the modulation wheel
  • In the case of the violins, you can choose many different variants from solo instrument to 2 violin 1+ 1 violin 2, 3 violin 1, 3 violin 1 + 3 violin 2, 6 violin 1, 6 violin 1 + 6 violin 2 (12 violins)
  • Each of the ensembles has a distinctly different timbre
  • Attack and decay control added via MIDI and legato control via MIDI and sustain pedal
Timbral and Reverb Convolution
  • Timbral Impulse technology, developed with Numerical Sound allows you to match a chosen DDSSA's sound to a snapshot of a different string section or solo instrument
  • A custom created library of Reverb Impulses was also created by Numerical Sound, exclusively for the DDSSA

  • KONTAKT 2 Player included
  • DDSSA can be used as a standalone application or as a plug-In within Logic, Pro Tools, Digital Performer, Cubase, Sonar, Garageband or in any VST, DXi supported application
  • The solo instruments are 16-bit full scale and the ensemble presets are 24-bit
  • The ensemble arco, arco SA, tremolo, trill half step and trill whole step are looped
