O Audio-Technica AT831B é um microfone cardióide de lapela em miniatura com sensibilidade e resposta de freqüência adequados para vídeo profissional, broadcast e aplicações de reforço de som. I got this as I have a few client videos coming up and want to get a mic right up on them cutting out room noise. Being a directional style mic, it's a bit larger however I find it still sounds quite good and really keeps room noise out well. The price is another thing I like about this product. It's affordable and sounds decent, what more could you ask for?

I am recording voice between actors in a room with too much air conditioning rumble. The AT831 pick-up pattern has been a good tool for improving the voice-to-rumble ratio on my videos. That means I have to do less post-processing on my audio tracks.
The power box seems larger than it needs to be - I run wired using phantom power over the XLR connector, so I don't need the battery.
AT could also improve the lapel clip a bit - perhaps make the alligator a bit wider? - so that it is more likely to stay where I put it.
I tend to be kinda rough on gear - I've already dropped the microphone capsule a couple of times - but it's surviving so far.

Totally what I was looking for with crisp clean audio. This is not a problem for me, but if you are looking to hide this mic on someone's collar, think again. It is about the size of a marble.

I'm using this microphone as an input on my Zoom H4N handheld audio recorder and am very happy with the quality of the sound I'm getting. I'm also very happy with the level of isolation from background noises that this microphone give me.
The microphone and power module come in a smart hard-case which is very welcome when the unit is in my gear bag though the power module is metal and does not come with any slip case so I'm slightly worried about it falling off my interviewee's belts and smashing if it hits a hard-floor.
