The optics specialists at Minox present an interesting and discreet outdoor companion - the NV mini II Night Vision Monocular. It's small enough to slip into nearly any pocket, yet it boasts a remarkable 1st generation intensifier.
The NV mini features multicoated lenses that enhance light-transmission, and an IR illuminator for total darkness conditions. The optical system provides 2.0x magnification for observing subjects at a moderate distance. To ensure a secure grip in total darkness conditions, the mini's ergonomically designed housing is partially covered with a tactile and protective rubberized armor.

Comments about Minox NV mini II Night Vision Monocular:
Not too bad, considering the form factor. This is not in any way comparable with the current Generation III+ NVDs out there, but then you're not paying upwards of $4000 for this toy either. This is rated as Gen I+, which seems to be about right based on its performance. This device seems to have decent battery life, and as mentioned it is very compact and is reasonably well-made. I have used much cheaper NVDs, which are bigger than this and of much lower quality, and sent them all back. I wish the optics were of higher quality - at this price point we could have better glass. Focusing is okay, but could be smoother, more precise. A very interesting addition to the travel bag!
