Comments about Panasonic DMW-BCH7 Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery:
I was recently given a Panasonic point & shoot that came bundled with with a DMW-BCH7PP battery. The website listing for this product is a shortened DMW-BCH7. I'm here to assure my fellow Panny neophytes it's the same product: 3.7V 695mAh 2.6Wh Li-ion.
The product received does indeed read DMW-BCH7PP just like the OEM pack.
Furthermore, if you're seeking peace-of-mind with this genuine Panasonic version, the packaging indicates: Cell made in Japan, Pack assembled in China.
Other off-brands are most always entirely manufactured in China.
I won't reduce my rating for this, but I do wish Panasonic would silkscreen a white patch on their dark battery shell for those of us who plan to travel with a handful of extras. It would permit labeling/marking each pack for easy identifying as to which has been used or not. Given the slim nature of today's Point'n'Shoots, a sticker is likely to scrape off.

THIS IS MY "BACK UP" BATTERY AND THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT IT WILL DO AS GREAT A JOB AS THE ORIGINAL ONE. NO CONCERNS ABOUT NOT HAVING ENOUGH BATTERY POWER FOR ANY JOB.
