I have to commend the engineers at CineBags for coming up with a fantastic product. They have crafted one fine bag. Everything from the sturdy zipper pulls to the solid feel of the handles has been carefully taken into account to create an impressive camera bag. The laptop compartment is well padded but does not add bulk to the bag and the shoulder straps have sufficient padding as well, making the bag very comfortable to wear.
It fits my HVX-200A and my 60d along with a lens or two perfectly; I can even put my 35mm Minolta in it and be just fine. This bag isn't for the gear fanatic who likes to bring everything and the kitchen sink. Although it will still hold an impressive amount of stuff it isn't for that. This bag is designed for speed and comfort, not bulk storage. The interior is fully customizable with plenty of velcro padded dividers. There's also a tuck away dust cover to keep all your gear clean even in adverse conditions.
I thought having the only access to the main compartment on the back of the bag would be a pain, but after a month of use I have come to love it. It's so easy to pull the bag off my shoulders, swing it down in front of me and open the compartment, remove what I need and toss it back up; it literally takes seconds. It's perfect for documentary shooters and those like myself who like leaving a smaller footprint while shooting.
Another bonus is it fits into airplane overheads, making it an easy carry on to keep your gear close by instead of it getting thrashed around by a rogue baggage handler.
One thing I did not like were the bulky hip straps. They protrude from the bag unnecessarily far and since I never use them I just found them annoying. And it would have been nice to have some sort of documentation included with the product to explain all its features.

I feel that I have been mislead by the excellent reviews. The bag is a disappointment. I have an AF100 and was looking for a bag that could fit MANY lenses. Yet, I can fit just one lens with this bag. Other lenses need to be placed on the sides (where its not really protected). Its bulky, and big… giving it the impression that you can fit all your gear inside. Inside is minuscule. Plus, the design is weird, its not an efficient design for filming. All I can say is that I am disappointed, I was hoping for something a lot better than this. [...] Do yourself a favor and look for another bag.

You can put an entire kit in this bag. Two DSLRs, 6 lenses, headphones, audio equipment, laptop, hard drives, cards, batteries and everything else. You can make a movie with this backpack. Everything you need is there. And it's comically small. I really don't know how everything fits in there. Easy and light for air travel. Only complaint is that it is not quite as big as the other Cinebag model (which will fit a bit more).
Love it!

This is a great backpack! I would take it on those exploratory trips thru rough terrain and be confident it will keep all the gear very safe.

Comments about CineBags CB-23 HD Backpack:
First off, the bag wil fit a TON of stuff in it. But it is pretty heavy... I bought it because I shoot a lot of pro bicycle races and I have to be one the move the entire time and carrying my laptop and all the gear in different bags is just impossible. I've walked a few miles with this bag so far and it definately serves its purpose. Plus it looks stunning in person. The insulation and dust shields inside are priceless. They don't advertise it as such but it actually keeps your gear pretty cool. My laptop was in the bag for 5 hours in 96 degree weather and when I pulled it out it was actually cool still, I was super suprised.
My only problem with the bag is that they list it to fit an HVX... IT DOES FIT AN HVX but it's tight. The camera has to be stood up on the lens hood to fit in the bag. You can fit an HMC in the bag with the bottom of the camera facing the front of the bag and the handle top facing your back, but the HVX has to go in sideways... The one way they could improve this is by moving the laptop against your back and the camera on the outside. I wouldn't use this bag as storage, when I get back home I put my HMC back into my normal camera bag.
Overall I do like this bag a ton, I will keep it and use it frequently. I talked to a fellow shooter who used it to take his HMC to South Africe a few times and it is withing carry-on regulation. I'll find out for sure when I take my HVX to St. Lucia with me in a few months.
I do recommend this bag, just be aware of the snugness of the HVX if that's what you're buying it for.

This is a great little bag. I can carry my Sony NX-5, Canon 60D and all of my audio gear, batteries, light gels, audio connectors and an extra lens or 2 to boot. The biggest downside to this bag is that I have to remove the shotgun mic off of my NX-5 for it to fit and i have to take the lens off of my 60D as well. Other than that (and even with that) this is a great bag. Oh, I almost forgot...I can get my Zoom audio recorder in here as well.

I bought this pack for a Panasonic HPX170, plus extra gear (microphone, batteries, tripod plate, etc). The pack is very well built and so far, quite durable. It has a heap of pockets on it, and plenty of adjustments. You could store an impressive amount of gear in the pockets - if you can carry it all. The pack is reported to be waterproof, and so far seems to be. If you spend a lot of time shooting in the outdoors - as I do in the rainy Pacific Northwest, or traveling, this pack will last you years. The pack also fit perfectly in the overhead bin on an airplane cabin on a recent flight.
Why not 5-stars? First, I'm picky about my reviews and use the full spectrum of star ratings. So this is still an excellent product. If did find a few minor issues to mention. First, it's rather heavy. This isn't a light pack. All the extra pockets, zippers and straps add weight. Second, it's fairly expensive, though you get what you pay for. I work in broadcasting and needed a good pack. If you are a hobbyist, this will be overkill for you. And finally, because of the design the pack opens against your back. Thus, it's impossible to fit the HPX170, or just about any similar camera with the microphone mount on it, lest the mount will jab you in the back, despite the excellent padding. This camera barely fits in there. Most packs load out, but because of this design, there is little room for the pack to bulge out. None the less, with some work I've managed to get it work. I recommend you try to test your camera before buying this pack. If you have a smaller camera, no problem. If it's bigger, take a look at the next sized pack up.
All in all though, this is an extremely well built pack.

I bought this camera back because my production equipment was increasing in numbers. I hated having to pack multiple bags and having to worry about if I left anything behind. With this bag I am able to fit rolls of gaff tape, My Canon T2i, an H4n, a "Striker" rig, all of my batteries and cords for the camera, and I still have space for an additional lens and in all of the pockets on the outside. I can also carry my tripod on with the front straps as well, but they could be a little better designed to hold the tripod more secure.
For DSLR users this bag is great. It is a great way to get all of your gear in one place so you can just grab it and go.

Free-lance photographer/video primarily with 7D. This bag is very rugged and user friendly. It is definitely a more professional build than a lot of junk you see at retail camera stores. A lot of thought has gone into the design. I especially like the way the inner compartment can be organized as well as the dust jacket. The pockets are nice and big and the tripod storage area is very versatile. I can slip a 12" flex fill in there. I think its very comfortable as well. It holds a ton of stuff and I have a ton of stuff to put in it for video. Only draw backs I can see is that the next model up is a tad bigger and has a built in rain coat. If this thing had a rain coat it would be pretty much perfect for a DSLR or smaller prosumer set up.

I needed a backpack to carry my Canon 5D. I usually carry 3 lenses with me. This is the perfect size! I was originally going to buy a different brand, but I was not pleased with the straps. This bag held up very well on my last trip to Asia! I definitely recommend this one to all photographers!

I have a Sony EX1-R and two Canon 7ds. I was hoping to be able to fit them all in there. I can but then no room for my lenses. The EX1 fits good. It buldges out of the bag a little but still fits perfectly otherwise. I also fit my 70-200mm lens and 16-35mm lens on the inside. On the top compartment of the bag I was able to fit one 7D. All is protected well. The pockets on the sides carry almost all of my accessories for the cameras. The shoulder straps are good, but not the best I've experienced. They are very strong but not the most comfortable. The laptop compartment is great. Overall, I'm really pleased with it and can't believe I was able to fit so much in such a small space. It does feel pretty heavy fully loaded, but I know it's strong enough to hold it all and protect it. I do wish it would come in a different color than the orange straps. I usually want to be unnoticed. The larger bag of this series is a different color. I don't understand why they aren't able to use those colors as well. Fits on airplanes perfectly.

This bag is great. The best use for this is when you are filming and you can't have that many bags with you. For example I did a job filming and al I had was the Cinebag bag backpack and my tripod. I had tons of equipment inside the backpack.
