Purchased this for a macro self-portrait series. For the most part, quite thrilled with it. It is supposed to work within 30' of the camera.
I found that you really need to be direct line of site with the sensor on the camera, and even then, occasionally need to try a couple of times for it to register over 15' away.
For the money you can't go wrong and it's a great tool to have at the ready when you need it. I've already loaned out to a couple of photo students who are now want to pick one up their own.
Definitely beats the $300, gourmet, surveillance grade alternatives.

I bought the remote to be a remote. I press the button, and I expect the shutter to release. Oh no, some Einstein at Canon decided that it should only work in timer mode. Take your choice. Do you want a 2 second or 10 second delay.
I hate when they place arbitrary limits on technology. The button on the remote should be the exact equivalent of me pressing the shutter release button on the camera period! I believe that is what most people expect. Why Canon would universally decide to have it operate differently defies explanation.
The documentation is worse than weak. 99% of it is in different languages or lawyer speak.
This remote operates well. I would recommend it. Its not like you have another choice.

Love this little remote! Way better than the wired one I was using! I love the little case that fits on my camera strap so I don't have to dig through my camera bag looking for it. Works great too!

I didn't know what to expect but the remote worked great. It works well past 45 º from the camers center line. You could add this to your must have items.

Comments about Canon RC-6 Wireless Remote Control:
it took ages to access the battery compartment when i first got this tiny device. with much struggle and fear of breaking it, i eventually managed to open it up and insert the battery but i was still surprised and disappointed to find that it had no capability for controlling video with a dslr. as a result, it's scarcely been used so i'm thankful that it's small when i'm carrying it. in the few instances i've used it for stills i've had no trouble.

Comments about Canon RC-6 Wireless Remote Control:
I bought this remote to use as part of a photobooth at a wedding where guests could make the camera fire. The remote worked 80% of the time as some of the guests had it pointed backwards or too far to the side of the camera for the infrared signal to be captured by the camera.
The remote does work well as long as the operator understands that its like a TV remote and requires line of sight (or a wall to bounce the infrared off of). The battery lasted for at least over 500 photos and is still going.
This remote would be better used for time-lapse purposes where the photographer is the person using the remote and understands its limitations.
The remote itself is very small.

I use the product for macro and still photography to avoid shaking the camera while depressing the shutter. It works beautifully. It's compact, lightweight, comes with a carrying case to put on your camera strap. Highly recommended. I'm looking forward to using it for long exposure work.

Comments about Canon RC-6 Wireless Remote Control:
This remote is a good value, but there are a few things you should know before purchasing (not that I am recommending or know of anything else). The remote seems to have to be pointed directly at the camera sensor/body. Luckily, the the 2-second setting allows for the remote to be quickly removed from the pic if you're photographing yourself. The remote cannot be pointed at the back of the camera either...only at the front (toward the sensor). Other than this drawback, I'm satisfied and would purchase the unit again.

Comments about Canon RC-6 Wireless Remote Control:
The instructions with the product are scant and I have been unable to open the battery compartment despite several attempts at following the instructions. As a result I have yet to get it to work and do not know whether that is because it has no battery (which I cannot determine).
More comprehensive instructions would be helpful.

Used this mostly while doing landscapes. Camera on tripod, get every thing ready, step off to the side and wait for perfect (no wind) time. Press button and done. This little remote is easy to use, and it is eazy to carry in your hand or pocket while you setting up.
