This Maxell External Battery is designed for use with the iVDR VC102 Video Capture Device. It supplements the unit's internal Li-Ion battery by providing an additional 3 hours of power. The external battery is also hot-swappable, so that the internal battery automatically kicks in when the external battery is removed or is running low.

Im glad to have an additional battery system besides the internal one.The unit even has a built in led light to see settings on the unit as well as your camera.One thing I found out from Maxell is,even though the unit(vc102) is 5v,the battery sais 12v charge.Maxell sais to charge with the vc102 charger.

This recording system is king of confusing at first since there is only one button to set the menu and is very easy to push too fast on the button and loose the settings mode.
Once you pass that by reading the manual and the online specs the unit performs well and the footage is ready to import to your edit suite.
also keep in mind that you may need to download additional plug-ins for your editing program in order to use the files you just recorded.
I notice when recording and add for TV the time we took for start to finish was about 2 Hours,
the recording time on camera was 20 minutes.
the battery life on this unit is not as long as I would expected so I end up using two External Batteries for iVDR VC102.
for a total of 2 hrs stand By that is kind of short however if more power is needed to completed your project, you can always connect the power adapter to the battery while connected to the unit, is kind of daisy chain, it kind of helps but takes away the mobile recording out of the whole Idea.
other than that this unit is great when compared to other expensive recording systems in its class.
