I have struggled with Dell's 2408 and 2410.....the 2408 had a horrible green cast.....2410 was slightly red. This HP was pretty much dead on right out of the box. As I sit here...I have the Dell 2410 on the left...ZR24W in the middle and Dell 2408 on the right. The same image duplicated on all three displays and the HP is the obvious winner. The contrast, clarity and color are far superior on the HP. If I could show you the picture I took of the three monitors I think you would agree as well.
Note: the comparison I made was with NO color calibration and all FACTORY DEFAULTS. Even with calibration I could not get rid of the horrible green color cast on my DELL 2408...haven't tried fixing the red cast on my Dell 2410. For this HP ZR24w...I have tried calibrating even though I felt it didn't need it...and the corrections were NEGLIGIBLE. :-)
Only downside is that it doesn't have the card reader like the Dell Monitors do.
I use it for photo editing where color accuracy is critical. I highly recommend this monitor.

Colors were great on the top half of the screen. The bottom half however were dark and a little red. Calibration made it worse. I may have received a bad panel but after reading plenty of reviews this is apparently quite common. I didn't want to play the monitor shuffle so I returned it for a refund. I would rather spend less and know that it's not prefect than spend more and regret image problems. I may try IPS again (as it is beautiful) but not for a while. B&H is awesome, will buy from again!

This is used on a full time photographer editing machine. Great price for an IPS panel that will rotate. It is a bit bulky, but it is such a great panel with plenty of connectivity options.

This is a very solid monitor at an excellent price point. I needed an IPS panel at a decent size for graphic design, and this fit the bill.

Very pleased with my choice. After a week or so of comparing monitors, I decided to replace a 22" HP that I owned with this one. Colors are great, beautiful screen, very pleased with the purchase. Shipping was fast too - thanks B&H!

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard ZR24w 24" Widescreen LCD Computer Display:
This was probably one of the longest decision making processes I've been through. Knew my old CRT monitor was on its way out. Narrowed my choices to this HP and one other IPS monitor. HP's recent decision about its PC business was a factor, but finally decided $ was a factor. This is one great monitor. Image quality is sharp, set-up was very easy, and HP's set up program is first rate. I'm VERY pleased with my choice.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard ZR24w 24" Widescreen LCD Computer Display:
I work at an interactive agency doing design & development on a 27" iMac and figured it was time to upgrade my screen back home from a 19" 4:3 TFT monitor to something bigger with better color like an IPS panel. I hooked this up to my 13" macBook Pro and my home PC and it works great!
I'm loving the size of this monitor and the colors are spot on. I wanted an anti-glare finish because as nice as the 27" Apple screen is, I can't stand the glare I get from any light in the room. This screen does well in that respect but the anti-glare coating makes a white screen look kind of fuzzy to me which is a tad bit annoying but really not bad, that's my only complaint, and the only reason this isn't a 5 star product.
Great panel at a great price, definitely recommend it!

I use the monitor for web browsing and software developemnt. The monitor feels a little different from the regular LCD monitors because it seems like there is a fine dust or something like this on the surface. It is only noticeable on the white background. However, the text is really crisp and colors are vivid. My eyes feel better with this monitor than with the regular LCD.

I bought this monitor to repalce an aging 19" CRT I was using to edit and prview photos for printing. The prints I get now using the HP are a tad dark (recalibation should resolve this) but nothing like I was getting when using a non-IPS LCD monitor. I gave it a 5 star rating based on the fact that it met my expectations and the price vs performance ratio - you can get better performce but not at this price point. I have only had this 2 weeks and love it...

Wanted a good IPS monitor for photo editing. Great value for the $$. Like size/resolution/color rendition. Only problem was dirt embedded in the middle of the screen. [...]. Replacement monitor has similar problem but very near the edge so it is not as much of an issue. HP needs to clean up their assembly clean room.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard ZR24w 24" Widescreen LCD Computer Display:
Most large-screen displays today have vertical resolution of 1080 (intended for video display). I use mine as a computer display, and wanted high resolution in both dimensions. The list of options is fairly limited. And I paid half the price for this 24" monitor as for the Sony 21" that it replaced. 1920x1200, replacing 1600x1200. Nice to see prices coming down, performance going up[...]Good.It took me ten minutes to connect it and set it up. Most of the time was just unpacking things. No need to use the minimal documentation. Still good. The screen is so bright that I had to reduce the intensity to keep from washing out the laptop screen sitting next to it. Great!I'm also an amateur photographer, and have nothing but good things to say for the rendering of images in photoshop. The only complaint I have is that I switch back and forth between VGA (the laptop doesn't have a DVI output) and DVI (on my home computer), and it takes a long time and/or manual action for the monitor to respond. Better and faster switching between inputs would have been greatly appreciated.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard ZR24w 24" Widescreen LCD Computer Display:
I'm currently using this monitor for editing in Premiere CS5 with some photographic work in Photoshop on the side. I've used this monitor in the past on a Mac and am now using it on my Windows machine. I have been very happy with the performance of the monitor, but there are just some minor things I'd like to point out that made me knock off a star from the rating:
1) Size/weight: This thing is huge. For a 24" monitor it's quite heavy and very, very thick. It does have some nice adjustment features however, so you shouldn't have to move the monitor around very often.
2) The contrast could be a little better
3) It's very bright; even when lowering the brightness it's fairly bright. If you work in the dark (as most editors do) you will notice this.
Otherwise the color performance is excellent (calibrated mine with Spyder3 Pro) and has a nice matte finish (I hate glossy monitors)

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard ZR24w 24" Widescreen LCD Computer Display:
As a professional photographer, I use this for all my photo needs. Have owned a couple Dell UltraSharp monitors. I was looking for another 24" 1920x1200 IPS monitor after one of my good Dell UltraSharp U2410 monitor died on me. Had a choice between HP ZR24W or get another Dell UltraSharp U2410. The monitors are both really identical in terms of performance. I used the ZR24w uncalibrated for a week and noticed it was bright, vivid, and color representation was pretty accurate. I am a little disappointed in the black levels as it was not very contrasty, but I already knew this before purchasing it. I did not notice any of the purple tinting others were talking about.
I wish I had known about this monitor sooner, so I would've bought this for a dual setup.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard ZR24w 24" Widescreen LCD Computer Display:
I use this as a monitor to edit my photographic endeavors as well as the occasional movie or gaming nights.
Good things:
Perfect size, don't need anything bigger than this unless looking for the 25xx X 19XX resolutions.
Great near-perfect color reproduction out of the box.
Simple controls and menus that won't confuse or hide anything in anyway.
No obtrusive status lights. A cool blue and starry yellow/orange status light on the bottom right corner.
AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME stand. It comes pre-assembled, although it seems like a one piece that, instead of screwing on, you just slide on. Fastest setup time ever. I literally pulled the monitor out of the box, slid on the stand, heard the click, and placed it on my desk to enjoy connected to my PC. The system is beautifully created.
Rises, tilts and turns side to side if wanted.
also has the included software to allow vertical viewing of documents or whatever else on your screen if you swivel the monitor 90*.
Pleasant viewing angles.
Does not fatigue your eyes like most other normal monitors do.
Has a "frosted" look to the screen instead of a reflective glossy finish that I don't like.
The bad:
I didn't like having to turn down the brightness all the way or just about (10%) in order to get the blacks to come out correctly, although in reality HP did send out the monitor at a higher-than-normal brightness for a reason with luminance, gamma, etc.
Would've enjoyed AdobeRGB in addition to the default color space of sRGB.
Have to fiddle around in the custom color menus to get it perfectly calibrated since it comes just a tad bit on the warmer side stragith out of the box although the colors themselves are pretty much within a few % of being correct.
I think that's it, really. After setting it up the way I liked it, it is a beautiful monitor in which I wish I had picked two up.

These monitors are a great value. Viewing angle is reasonably good (some change when you move your viewing angle, but no color shifting until you get way off). Form factor is excellent and the image reproduction is fantastic. I ordered 2 from B&H. One was perfect, the other had a spot with several dead pixels. [...] Overall, seems to be some flakiness with pixel perfection, [...]

Moved up from a 19" CRT monitor. The larger screen is great for Adobe programs. It's a good sharp, crisp, bright and vivd colors monitor. I spend a lot of time with photos and color correcting so I calibrated the monitor with a Spyder calibrator. It took some time to calibarate. The default settings seem to bright, so I adjusted the brightness/contrast. I downgraded this monitor to 4 stars because of a little lack of detail in blacks and a little blown out in the whites.

I work in pro video/graphics. Decent monitors are pretty essential. I wanted something at an affordable price, but not sacrificing quality.Bought two of these monitors recently after checking a few other reviews online. Generally they reviewed very well, and I have to agree overall, I would recommend this product, especially over it's more expensive 24" peer, the Dell Ultrasharp. - (of which I also own two, and always lamented their lack of color calibration tools..).[...] am very happy with the color range, detail, stand adjustability, and price for performance. So for overall product happiness - i'd give it 5 stars thus far, only dropped to 4 due to the unlucky dead pixel issue on 1 of the 3 screens..

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard ZR24w 24" Widescreen LCD Computer Display:
Purchased this monitor strictly for photo editing and album design. [...] Contains all cables required to setup. Setup was a breeze with included software. Bought an i1Display 2 calibration tool and the calibration was easy as well. So far I have sent in test prints to both MpixPro and Zookbinders. The comparison was spot on for Zook but not as well for MpixPro. MpixPro prints were a little darker than my on screen view even after calibrating a second time and turning the brightness all the way down to 0...in case you are wondering the screen is still well lit at "0"...I guess it is just a scale HP uses to help adjust. Will send out other tests to see what those come back as. I have read other reviews that said the screen was too bright so there may be some truth to this...but like I said the Zook test prints were spot on once the monitor had been calibrated. Will post update once all tests come back
