Canon's WA-H82 0.8x Wide Attachment Lens is designed to provide a wider angle of view for XF300 and XF305 pro camcorders, turning each camera's 29.3mm lens into a roomier 23.4mm (35mm equivalent). That means you can take in far more of a scene, especially indoors or in tight spaces.

Comments about Canon WA-H82 0.8x Wide Attachment Lens:
I have to admit that when I got my XF305 I was surprised at the confines of the stock 29mm equivalent lens. I have shot full frame sensor still cameras for years but really didn't give the bottom end of 29mm much thought when I ordered the camera. Thankfully the WA-H82 attachment saved me from myself.
This attachment actually made the camera usable again in many situations. Yes, it is a serious piece of glass and heavy as one user noted. And they said it would not autofocus but it will in normal mode, just not in instant focus mode or with the push AF button. Each of those is a more than fair trade off for the field of view I pick up.
Unless you shoot everything outdoors and never near your subject then I think this is a must have component for the camera. I don't think you will be disappointed with your investment.
Don't forget to set the correct setting in the menu so the camera knows the attachment is on or it will not focus properly.

Comments about Canon WA-H82 0.8x Wide Attachment Lens:
I bought this thinking that it would give me more flexibility with a wider angle than the camera gives you by itself. After putting it on, I decided to return it. It adds significant weight, especially to the front end of the camera, it limits your zoom capabilities, and auto focus is not available when it is on the camera. Looks to be a nice piece of glass, but not worth the trade offs, in my opinion. I am using the camera for doc projects.

Get's just that little extra picture when you can't physically get further back. Works great for extra drama on crane and steadicam shots.
