I've used a lot of lav mics, from the $25 range to the $250 range. I got this mic in a package with some other equipment, and have been blown away at its professional sound. The signal-to-noise ratio is awesome, the sound is clear and the design is rugged.
The only downside is that the mic itself is fairly large, and doesn't hide as well when clipped to the talent.

I use this lav with my DVX100B and I had to turn the levels all the way up on the camera and then in post production to get a regular level on it. It's a great price for a Shure, but if I were to do it again I would have spent a little extra money on a better mic.

I personally would much rather shoot with a wired lav, it just cuts down the issues with wireless. This is a good entry level pro lav. It's a tad on the big side, but really sounds great.

We've been using this wired lapel mic for video work and it does a fantastic job capturing the human voice without other ambient noises. The microphone is very accurate, but on the quiet side, so the levels need to be boosted to get a good signal.

Comments about Shure SM11-CN - Lavalier Microphone:
They may work for recording but for PA use they are almost unusable! We purchased these in place of our 6 tabletop shure mics but with the mic vol maxed and the output just before feedback my voice is still louder then the output. For reference, our mic levels are on 3.5 and output at 6 of 10 with the desktop shure's and it sounds like WWF announcements so its surely not the amp.. Beware, the sounds is great if your simply recording but for broadcast not a chance.

Comments about Shure SM11-CN - Lavalier Microphone:
I've been using an SM-11 since my first run at video production several years ago and recently acquired a second one for it's price and durability. It does record levels a bit lower than other high quality wired lav's. But have always relied on this mic for not picking up too much background and being good at handling itself without too much noise from wires moving, and the like. It's also on the large size, so you'll have to work with it on a subject a bit more. But it's worth it.

I have used this mic countless times for interviews but it has also been used for live lectures as well. I like that there are no batteries to change, the mic is rugged, and has proven to be be a trooper after being handled by 100's of different clients over the past 10 years.

Comments about Shure SM11-CN - Lavalier Microphone:
I use them for interviews in the field. Work very well and are really durable. I have another pair of these for 4 years and still in perfect condition. If you care you will have microphones for long. I am no specialist in sound, but for interviews work very well. Clear audio without noise. I never had never interference problems, recording in many circumstances. Do not require batteries and is XLR connector. If you buy a kit sony wireless base can connect to wireless handheld mic and you have another wireless mic tie for little money. The only flaw I could point out is that they are a little big, if you're looking for discretion or want to hide. I put 4 stars because there are microphones with better sound quality, but for journalistic purposes would put 5 stars because it is really very good fighter.

I bought this mic to use when recording personal histories to CD. It's small, easy to attach, and has excellent sound quality[$]The omni directional pick-up pattern insures that the "talent" will sound great even if they turn their head when speaking as untrained people are apt to do.

Works perfect, but it is pretty big...much bigger than a traditional clip-on lav

I have 5 of these. I have recommended them to other performers. I use them on my banjos. The are incredible, I use a tywrap and fix it to a tension hook on the outside of the banjo facing down into a sound hole. It has a great sound, I have used it for years, from a small pa, to onstage for a large audience. It always performs well. I have also used it for recording along with the front mic.
With Banjo, when you move off axis it changes the tone, but with this, mic, you have no problem with that. The sound is always consistant.
Well Done Shure.

Needed a small, quality microphone for Documentary video shoot. Sound quality is excellent and reception of radios works well. Have only just received product and not put it to full use, but early tests seem to go well.
Comments about Shure SM11-CN - Lavalier Microphone:
Had to return it. Specs looked good, esp no battery dynamic, but very "cold" mic. With powered PA speaker, had to crank level almost all up, and no headroom before feedback.
