Using this to scan all my pictures. It's much easier to use than my printer scanner.
Scans about 100 photos on the battery - unlimited when usb cord is connected to usb/110 power plug (such as an iPod wall charger).
I have only scanned to the memory card (146 photos at 600dpi used 94mb).

@Artmando
That is not the intention of the product. If you were receiving error codes - twain not recognized or scanner not detected - it could be that the ReadIRIS software was trying to communicate with a missing driver connector.
You will not be able to connect to the scanner from within ReadIRIS/Cardiris because there is no twain driver. That is deliberate and by design. Twain has been a problem area on Vista/Windows 7. On those versions of Windows nobody is an administrator regardless of what is set in User Accounts. When you need administrative rights you get a prompt asking for permission to continue. Because of this and other security lockdowns we decided to avoid the issue and go with another approach.
Think of this scanner as a USB storage device, like a flash drive, when you scan it stores the images in memory until you connect it to the computer where it shows up as another drive letter in My Computer.

There are few similar scanners, bt this is the only one really complete. Dont buy other, only to save 20 or 40$. When you see others in detail, you'll note that they lack one or other feature.
Pros: I do investigation in the History field and many times I have to interview people and see old photos or papers. They are very sensitive materials, and is nearly impossible to ask them to loan to scan at the office. This little one is perfect to it. It is "non intrusive" to the people. They trust instintively in a device so little... and you quickly have the image "on your purse". Reliable, safe, little... Is the second one I have, same brand. Now, more Mac savvy. Cons: Have a connector, but dont works with external power supply. Then, you are limited to the rechargeable battery. I still couldn't use the calibration white paper (!)

Work for a mid-size insurance agency. This device allows me to scan just about anything; documents, photos, receipts, signed contracts, appraisals, etc. The scans are 100% clear and I haven't come across a problem yet. I can even import to OCR software and re-organize my scan. Cool! Also, been looking for something like this for awhile, researched this product line and they had a great deal going, got money back from mail-in-rebate.

Comments about IRIScan Anywhere 2 Portable Scanner:
I have used a number of IRIS products, including pen scanners, and I have been very satisfied. But the IRIScan Anywhere 2 has been a different story. 1) the software code was so complicated to generate that I finally had to get tech support to just send it to me; 2) even after I got this, it started throwing error codes, but the software eventually opens; 3) the scanner itself is extremely finicky. Loading the page through the narrow slit is like threading the eye of the needle. The slightest imperfection or wrinkle on the paper's leading edge causes the page to be rejected or totally ignored; 4) the default "save" folder for scans came up as a mysterious K drive; and now, after scanning, the images suddenly disappear. I bought this scanner to improve my workflow. It's done nothing but slow me down and has become a tremendous, time-consuming headache. (On the positive side, the quality of the scans I've been able to make have been very good.) But over all, after a week of struggling with this terribly cumbersome device(I'm a very experienced computer user) [...]A very, very frustrating experience.
