Comments about Western Digital My Book Studio LX (1TB):
Very nice looking and beautifully designed external drive, works as it should for its main purpose. However, I do have a big issue with mine, and I don't know if this has happened to anybody else.
Whenever I wake up my computer from sleep, the display loses the capacity gauge and it only shows the name of the drive, in my case, TIME MACHINE.
To be able to see both the name AND the capacity and GB left, I have two options:
I have to start my computer from being completely off, or;
I have to wake up my computer from sleep, and THEN turn the drive off and back on manually using the button on the back of the drive.
It is important to note that the drive does wake up altogether with the computer every time and works as it should, but it doesn't display the gauge showing the amount of GB left in it, only the name.
This is really annoying since it happens EVERY time I put my computer to sleep and wake it up later.
I already reinstalled the software twice, and this happens with or without the security feature enabled, and with or without the virtual CD enabled.

Comments about Western Digital My Book Studio LX (1TB):
I use this drive strictly for additional storage of RAW camera files. Since I didn't want to use it for a backup drive I didn't want to install the backup software. I found that I could set the drive up so that I could use the capacity gage and also set the name of the drive in the display window without installing all of the backup software. This worked out very well for me.
Since it's equipped with firewire 800 I am also able to use it for additional digital video file storage and editing.

Comments about Western Digital My Book Studio LX (1TB):
I use the Western Digital Hard Drive to back up all my images. I keep all my images off my computer and on a separate hard drive. I use a LaCie Rugged Hard Drive as my primary drive and I have two Western Digital Drives to back up from the LaCie. These two drives are at two different locations for further security. This drive is great. I have a third Western Digital drive that I use with my MAC's Time Machine program.

Comments about Western Digital My Book Studio LX (1TB):
I use this product for Professional Video Editing and to store my media.
Its fast, silent, remains at a cool temperature even when used all day long, also haves a cool compact design that matches my Mac Book Pro perfectly, the display provides useful information like remaining space and content.
I have no negative arguments on this tiny little buddy, but i would say that if you are looking for an indoor HDD you should go for this one.

Comments about Western Digital My Book Studio LX (1TB):
[...] The product (a Western Digital WEWDBACH0010 My Book Studio LX (1TB), was competitively priced, [...] The unit is compact and works perfectly as a HD backup for my iMac. I use the iMac's Time Machine software instead of the WD software, and the WD unit performs scheduled backups quickly, quietly and reliably. As always, B&H completely fulfilled my expectations. Thanks, folks!
