Comments about Blackmagic Design DeckLink HD Extreme 3D:
Still includes paper asking customers to wait for full activation. At SD works just fine. Had problems in the 4x 1x slot of my Gigabyte mainboard. Worked fine in the 16x slot. Tech support by e-mail good in my opinion.

Comments about Blackmagic Design DeckLink HD Extreme 3D:
Easy install, drivers work perfectly, great with my HP Dreamcolor and HDP2 setup with FCP and Premiere, along with Apple Color. Not 5 stars because HDMI bracket taking up a whole slot in the back is annoying, and a complete waste. Have not used with deck control or capture yet, previous decklink models had unstable deck control issues, not sure if this has fixed that.

Great card, only 4 out of 5 because Decklink took away extended desktop. Easy to install and set up.

Comments about Blackmagic Design DeckLink HD Extreme 3D:
I purchased this card for it's advertised dual stream capture capabilities, but was greeted by a note in the box that said none of the 3d functionality was enabled. A firmware update available in April would enable these functions.
Now Mid-August, there was still no 3D update.
When I called Blackmagic's suppport line for information, they told me they had no slated release date for the update.
Even if I had hypothetically bought the decklink as a single channel card, the functionality was still rather limited. On a Mac you are locked to a narrow selection of codec and timeline options - 10 bit uncompressed, 8 bit uncompresed, 4:4:4, 4:2:2, Prores HQ (no support for Prores, Prores LT, or Prores proxy) and DVCPROHD. As a sony XDCAM user, I could not output a timeline without trancoding.
All in all, the card was a disappointment and I returned it...which is a shame. I really liked the media express application, and the idea of dual channel record was very appealing.
Until the 3d functionality is enabled, and codec support is expanded, I cannot recommend this product.

I purchased this card for it's advertised dual stream recording capabilities. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a notification in the box stating,
"Unfortunately the software update that supports dual stream 3D capture and playback was not quite ready when your Decklink Extreme 3d was manufactured. Please check our website for this update which we expect in late April."
It's August...and there is still not an update. Worse, I called Blackmagic support and they said they had no target date for it's release. Granted, they may just be covering themselves at this point - missing one date is bad enough, better not make it two. But still, it's kind of a BIG (HUGE) missing feature for a 3D card.
Even dual stream capture was enabled, I still might question the purchase. The card only supports 5 HD codecs on a Mac. Blackmagic 8 bit, 10 bit, DVCPROHD, Prores 444, and Prores 422 (HQ). It does not support Prores 422, LT, or Proxy. If you want to record or playback and alternate codec, you're out of luck. For my work, this simply isn't flexible enough for my needs...which is a shame. I really liked the Media Express application.
I returned the card.

Comments about Blackmagic Design DeckLink HD Extreme 3D:
The card works great. I knocked a star off because it has been over a week and I still have not received an answer to a customer support question, or even an acknowledgment that they've received my question and have any intention to respond. Blackmagic Design's support is not nearly as responsive as AJA and for that I can't rate this card 5 stars. I also could not utilize the HDMI daughter card because all slots are full in my Mac Pro. --Of note, I have not tested the '3D' features of this card at this time.
