The Petrol PR410 Deca Transparent Raincover (Black) is a one-piece design cover made to protect various small camcorders such as; Sony PMW-EX1, HVR-Z7 and similar size camcorders from extreme and adverse weather conditions. It is made from TPU (Transparent Polyurethane) for maximum visibility and waterproof nylon. Front cover section of ripstop fabric and TPU that attaches to cover via hook and loop material provides extra weather protection and still allows clear view of tally light. There is an exterior 6.0" ABS plastic track that allows the addition of on-camera mini light and/or a wireless receiver and a special waterproof zipper on the cover's viewfinder protector.
The Deca Raincover offers quick and easy access to all the camera/camcorder features and the ability to work with the camera's flip-out LCD screen while fully open. A hot shoe connector in the rigid front hood section anchors and stabilizes the cover on camera. At the rear, a tight auxiliary cord anchors cover around and protects the camera's viewfinder.

I bought this cover for my Sony VG-10 and it is far too big, but at the same time it's too small. This is because of the VG-10s awkward design. The cold shoe is placed further back then on most cameras, making the hood of the cover slightly too short. The construction of the cover is excellent, and with a slight modification I was able to move the support bar to better fit my camera. Another storm tomorrow and now I can look forward to shooting in it.

I bought this cover for my SONY Z5U. After fiddling with the Velcro straps, zippers and the hot-shoe mount (very tricky) I was able to make it work. I had an issue with a zipper wanting to hang down in front of the lens. I do prefer other types of rain covers which use cinch cords around the lens hood and viewfinder.

I am greatly impressed with the product. It fits the Sony EX-1 very well and allows easy access to controls and the tripod mount. Using the hot shoe as the mount and stabilizing device works very well.

Will keep your video camera dry, but kind of a snug fit for the FX1. You need the cold shoe 'adapter' to make this work. LCD screen won't open with cover slid all the way back - need to keep it mostly forward to open the LCD. Works well if hand-held and using eye cup for viewing. KATA cover works much better (roomier). I do like the hard cover over the lens - protects from rain and sun glare.
