The Good:
1) The 26 lb. rating allows me to attach a 1 to 6 lb camera to a 15 lb IndisliderPro with toplight, wireless mic, and monitor and mount it all with weight limit to spare.
2) Or just future-proofs for any camera setup from 1 to 26 lb.
3) Super-smooth fluid damping really is variable. I put a 1 lb. Canon HD camcorder on it, cranked the damping all the way down and the pan is smooth and the tilt cleanly holds at any angle I want it to stay.
4) Speaking of tilt angle, +90 to -90 degrees beats similar Manfrotto heads.
5) Overall light weight, 4.4 lbs!
6) Looks great attached to my new carbon/magnesium Manfrotto 536 tripod that is 7.2 lbs! (Combined closed length 33 1/2 in, weighs 11.6 lb, camera height ranges from 18 in to nearly 8 feet)
7) Other pluses; 100mm bowl, adj pan arm mounts left or right, lit bubble level stays on plenty long, and of course - stylin' good looks.
The Bad:
1) Don't lose the plate. $$$ for what it is.
2) Will make people who spent too much on other heads feel bad.

I've had this head with carbon fiber legs for about a year now. The plastic tilt-lock lever has broken as well as the mounting shoe release lever. I've tried to contact Cartoni BUT HAVE HEARD NOTHING BACK. So get the tripod (I love it and deserves 5-stars but the support is why it gets three) but be careful with the levers.

Comments about Cartoni Focus HD Video Tripod Head:
This is how a counter-balancing system is supposed to work! You can dial in exactly how much resistance you need, and then when you tilt, the camera stays at that angle. Works beautifully for light or heavy set-ups, which is perfect for my range of cameras. I also like that the camera and plate can be shifted forward or back somewhat for easy balancing before being locked in. Very happy with this head, wish I had gotten it long ago.

For the price, this is a nice head that does the job well. It lacks the robustness of more expensive heads, but it still holds up. Treat it like it's worth more and it'll be a lasting gem in your collection.

Comments about Cartoni Focus HD Video Tripod Head:
Good solid product, but a bit overpriced for what it is. For this kind of money I'd like to see something more refined. Performance is pretty good, but I wouldn't say it's a dream to work with.

What can I say, there's something about Cartoni's hand crafted feel which gives their products soul.
The action on this head is really fantastic and performs admirably. Best head I've found for the price.

Comments about Cartoni Focus HD Video Tripod Head:
I shoot with a SONY Z5U weighing not much over 6 pounds. I wanted a video head that would perform as smoothly and reliably as my Cartoni Laser, but handle a lighter camera. This head feels just as "wet" as the Laser (which costs twice as much) but has the counter-balance to suite my Z5U. By the way, this head has the same maximum payload of 23 lbs as the Laser. Very nice. My only CON is the plastic lever for the release plate. Plastic??? If it only had the same release mechanism as the Laser I would have given it 5 stars. Still for the money, this is a great head. Very solid. This is a REAL fluid head. Very smooth pans and tilts with no detected back-lash, even at the 590mm end of my zoom.

Comments about Cartoni Focus HD Video Tripod Head:
This is by far one of the best tripod heads I've used. Even the other $4K + heads are just as good. Very happy with my purchase.
Build quality is bullet proof and the drag is amazing. Super smooth and has a little bit of feedback to keep your arms smooth after too much red bull.
The lack of documentation is a bummer but you can figure out the head just fine. Cartoni must think if you buy their stuff you already know how to use it.
The top plate has a great quick release and is very adjustable. I'm not sure if it's metal or a highly durable composite material. Illumination bubble is nice and bright.

Comments about Cartoni Focus HD Video Tripod Head:
i really like this head. counterbalance is nice. head is compact but not tiny. very light. pan bar a bit minimal and tilt lock not the greatest, especially if your rig hasn't been balanced yet. however, these are minor complaints considering this head stacks up very well compared to heads costing two or three times as much.
