This Ikelite 6240.14 Ultra Compact Housing is designed for the Canon PowerShot SD1400 digital camera. It is an injection-molded clear polycarbonate case, known for its strength and corrosion-free properties. The housing offers an unobstructed view of the camera's information and control functions and operates safely to a depth of 200'. An easy-open latch along with drop-in camera loading makes set-up a breeze. The housing is sized and weighted for near-neutral buoyancy and superb handling underwater.
The port accepts the 67mm threads of a wide-angle conversion lens without an adapter. Getting close to your subject will greatly increase the quality of your underwater photos. By eliminating as much water as possible between you and your subject, you will get increased contrast and better color. The wide-angle conversion lens can be attached and removed when underwater.
A flash diffuser is included to improve lighting quality when the camera's built-in flash is used underwater. For optimum lighting underwater an optional external strobe is recommended. Ikelite strobes are brighter, recycle faster and offer wider coverage than the camera's flash. Being farther from the camera lens, the strobe reduces the illumination of particles in the water which helps eliminate backscatter.

Comments about Ikelite 6240.14 Ultra Compact Housing for Canon PowerShot SD1400:
Took this housing on a weeklong dive trip to Bonaire. Used as is without external flash.
The buttons didn't all line up correctly with the camera especially the up button on the four way switch.
The housing is pretty solid and held up well moving on and off boats and out of the truck.
Recommend using the diffuser for the flash.
Housing is positively buoyant and could use some weight attached to it on the bottom. Zoom button is a little tough to use.

Comments about Ikelite 6240.14 Ultra Compact Housing for Canon PowerShot SD1400:
i bought this camera housing to take video and pictures while cave diving. made it out of there with barely a scratch. the housing allows u to have full access to ALL of the functions. the only problem is that u have to know which button is which because u can not see what they are once u close the housing and it is a bit bulky. it also has a positive buoyancy so if you drop it it wont sink to the bottom.

Comments about Ikelite 6240.14 Ultra Compact Housing for Canon PowerShot SD1400:
I love this thing! My new camera and I went snorkeling, riding around on an ATV, playing on the beach, zip-lining, and swimming through an underground river. Not a leak. Plus, I had access to every button so I could switch modes, change the exposure, zoom and access every menu option. It's fantastic!

Comments about Ikelite 6240.14 Ultra Compact Housing for Canon PowerShot SD1400:
The unit fits well in the housing and unlike Canon's own underwater case it gives you full access to the entirety of the camera's functionality. The case has held its seal so far and is solidly made. My only complaints about it would be that it seems sometimes that the buttons on the housing only just make contact with the buttons on the camera, that the buttons on the housing are unlabled so you have to be quite familiar with the operation of the camera to get the most out of it and the diffuser that comes with it seems to attach quite flimsily to the lens port, but i guess this is just to encourage you to buy the strobe rather than rely on the built in flash (not a bad idea anyway). Other than these minor issues[...]

Very well built. Ikelite know how to build housings. The only downside is it's a little bulky.

Comments about Ikelite 6240.14 Ultra Compact Housing for Canon PowerShot SD1400:
Extremely easy to use, though there are a couple of switches that could be made a tad bit more accurate for things like toggling between photo and video, but overall it works great and can't wait to use it more! The weight and size are perfect to keep underwater photography simple. The best thing is that it goes deeper than I will ever be diving! We haven't taken it too deep yet, but so far so good, everything is tight as can be!
