Oben CT-2410 4-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs
The Oben CT-2410 4-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod is a sturdy, professional support for any DSLR, point-and-shoot camera, or a compact camcorder. Four-section legs allow the tripod to fold down to a very compact 18.6" – that's plenty small to fit a carry-on bag for airline travel. With a load capacity of 17.6 lb and a maximum height of 60.2", the tripod offers a number of advanced features that ensure its stability and reliable performance.
The tripod features ergonomically designed rubber twist locks on each leg. Because legs are non-rotating, all three of a leg's locks can be disengaged at once with a single twist of the wrist. This enables extremely fast setup of the CT-2410. A thoughtful leg design makes it a simpler task to service and maintain the leg sections.
With its rigid yet lightweight 6x carbon fiber legs and center column, the CT-2410 tips the scales at only 2.35 lb. The tripod chassis is cast aluminum for sturdiness, so the CT-2410 is ready to survive the rigors of professional use.
The CT-2410's rapid center column extends with a twist of the butterfly knob. For protecting your camera when the column is retracted quickly, there's a rubber damper under the center-post collar. Steel locking screws underneath the collar enable you to fasten a camera head to it more securely.
Pull-in/push-out positive leg locks allow you to set the positions of the three legs independently at three different angles. This allows you to shoot from low angles or on uneven terrain. For stability on softer terrain, the CT-2410 features retractable spikes that emerge from its rubber feet.
For extreme low-angle shooting, the center column is easily reversible. The retractable metal counterweight hook serves as a stopper at the bottom of the CT-2410's center column.

This is a tripod that does what it is intended to do with great aplomb. It is a travel tripod. This should give the expectation that it's most prominent attributes are compact and light weight. This it certainly is. Also important, it does not sacrifice good fit and finish to be so, and is quite satisfactory on that score.
Be aware, however, what small and light means to a tripod. It is steady enough to keep your camera still, but I would hesitate to leave it unattended while my camera was attached. It has a fairly small footprint, even when at full height. This coupled with its light weight means that a strong gust or a careless bump might be enough to unbalance it. This is not an intractable problem by any means. Perhaps the best solution for lower angle operations (where it is most vulnerable due to an even smaller footprint) is to simply employ one of the wider leg spread settings. This will greatly increase stability. If you need the full height, there is a balance weight hook on the bottom of the center column that can certainly help. On a related note,the specs indicate that this will take a weight of 17.6 pounds, but in many situations that would be unwise. Because of the generally small footprint, I would not recommend using really big lenses on this tripod.
One thing I have noticed, though this may disappear with use, is that in cold temperatures, the leg locks are substantially stiffer. My guess is that the lubricant used is not as well suited to the cold. It is still quite usable, just a bit less friendly.
All in all, this is a great tripod for a light to medium weight setup and a reasonably careful photographer.
