The Oben AT-3400 Aluminum Folding Tripod w/ BA-00T Ball Head is a sturdy yet lightweight tripod with legs that fold upward 180° to create an extremely compact package for transport – with the included head attached, folded length is under 17". With a system load capacity of 6.6 lb, the full-sized tripod and head ensure a stable base for any DSLR body/lens combination or for a compact HD video camera.
With the four leg sections and the center column extended, the maximum height of the AT-3400 with the BA-00T head is 59.2". The legs are non-rotating, which enables single-handed operation of all three rubber twist locks on each leg: One twist of the wrist, and the three leg stages descend. The three legs are independently adjustable, and they can be locked securely at two different angles. The tripod's feet feature tips that can be converted from rubber tips to spikes, allowing you to shoot both indoors and outdoors and on any terrain.
Like the legs, the center column features a twist lock that frees up its extension and retraction. For protection when it's retracted quickly, there's a rubber damper that protects the center-post collar. At the bottom of the center column is a spring-loaded, detachable hook that allows you to attach a counterweight for extra stability in windy conditions. The hook doubles as a stopper for the center column, which can be removed and reversed for low-angle shooting.
The BA-00T head's single-action knob allows you to unlock all axes of movement in one fell swoop, so you can quickly orient your camera properly, retighten the knob, and return to shooting. The head pans a full 360°, with accurate markings all around. The BA-00T head tilts a full 90° in two directions, which facilitates shooting in portrait orientation. Bubble levels at four points on the head ensure that the camera is level whether it's oriented for landscapes or tilted 90°.
The included quick-release plate attaches to your camera via its standard 1/4"-20 screw. A retractable, removable video pin provides additional stability for camcorders. The quick-release plate easily snaps and locks into place on the BA-00T head. The safety lock on the quick-release mechanism prevents the camera from loosening inadvertently. The head supports loads up to 6.6 lb.
The AT-3400 Aluminum Tripod with BA-00T Ball Head also includes a fitted, padded carry case with a shoulder strap, two heavy-duty zippers, and an interior zipper pocket.

I've had this tripod for almost a year now. It's the first one I reach for when I head out. However, it's the last one I reach for if stability were critical.
Pros: This is SUPER portable so I bring it with me on all my trips. It's always strapped to my backpack carry-on whenever I travel. It's pretty light for it's price range.
Cons: The legs lock in 2 positions. The wide position is useless because it can't support a light weight DSLR with a nifty-fifty without sagging. It sags further when you depress the shutter button but bounces back when you release. In other words, you're better off not using it at the super low height with 2 of 3 sections extended. That said, in the upright position, it's fairly stable. However, be prepared to use a weight because it's so light (e.g. portable) that the center of gravity is pretty high up. So I only use it upright (which I do anyway) and reserve the low positions for my other tripods. I also don't use this for portraits because my other tripods have braces making them more solid than this.
Conclusion: If you're looking for a travelpod at a pretty reasonable price, this is great. However, as expected of a travel pod, other less portable ones in this price range will beat it in terms of stability.

I'm a beginning photographer and this was my first tripod. I specifically wanted something lightweight but sturdy and easy to use for a photography workshop in the Arizona desert. It met those criteria very well. I'm short, so I also thought the height would not matter. However, to achieve an easy view height, I had to raise the center shaft, which diminished the stability a little. Folding & unfolding was a little tedious, but no worse than more expensive tripods. The head was very good for the price. Altogether, I was satisfied with the value for the money and this is great for travel. It was a good entry-level tripod and ball head.

Comments about Oben AT-3400 4-Section Aluminum Folding Tripod w/ BA-00T Ball Head:
How you use the product?
I use the tripod to provide me with the most stable HDR photographs. I travel a great deal throughout NYC so having a good tripod is a must.
Things that are great about it?
My favorite feature is that the AT-3400 is light. I believe that it's less than 3lbs. So carrying the Oben around NYC is great. I also like the range of motion from the ball head -- as well as the ability for the Oben to collapse so I can take macro shots.
Things that aren't so great about it?
The only issue that I have had with the Oben is when the legs to lock -- so one leg goes sliding down. But I think it's user error and not the tripod.

I was not experienced with ball head tripods before buying this tripod, but I think I am a convert now because of it. For the money it is very light and is pretty sturdy. It's a heck of an upgrade from the $30 piece of junk I had been using.

Comments about Oben AT-3400 4-Section Aluminum Folding Tripod w/ BA-00T Ball Head:
I researched a lot of tripods before settling on the AT-3400. It was less expensive than the Benro brands but had similar features and a taller height. This tripod is light years ahead of my old junky aluminum one I was using and I am not looking back! The AT-3400 folds down nice and compact, the twist lock is easy to hold and grips well without much force. The legs feel very strong and sturdy. The quick release is adequate, a little flimsy on the metal lock but nothing major. And having a weight hook is really nice.
I was really reluctant to spend so much on just a tripod but it was well worth it and I will definitely be using this for a long time. It's great outdoord for travel, or indoors for family photos.

Useful tool. Easy to setup and lightweight. Quick leg adjustment. Purchased this tripod prior to a trip to NZ. Since I was going to carry it for 3 weeks, weight was one of the reasons I chose this item seeing I weigh 115#. Second was the price, in case it was lost. It is a great purchase, happy to have found it and will be using it often.

I love how light weight and compact this tripod is. I do a lot of landscape photography and having to carry around a heavy tripod is no fun. I love the ball head you can make any adjustment with one move super quick. I have not found anything I'm unhappy with as of now.

I've been happy with this tripod so far. This has been a big upgrade from my old $30 tripod. Unfolding the legs and stretching them is much easier with the twist turn instead of the lock mechanism. The head is pretty solid and the integrated levels are abig plus. If theres any cons with it is that it's light so you might need to add weight on windy conditions. luckily there is a hook in the center post to hang them. 2nd the tripod features spiked ends but in this particual model you have to unscrew the rubber ones and put in the spikes. Overal the tripod many features are great for the price.

Just uploaded photos of Diamond Notch falls using the tripod. Only a mile of hiking, but over slippery footing and rock-clambering, the Oben was a lightweight, easy to carry tripod. Held steady in pond of the waterfall.

This is a compact, light, sturdy Tripod. I use it with a Canon 60D. In windy conditions it holds up well and the center hook is quite useful for attaching weight for stabilization. It deploys quickly and travels well. This is an excellent overall tripod for carrying around.

I'm a recent college grad with a degree in photography. I've been using my tripod for all kinds of night photography. The product is stable and durable, making me comfortable enough to bring it out anywhere i go. Being a perfectionist, the levels located on the head of the tripod are a great help. The product is a little heavy to carry around for a long period of time, but i believe it is well worth it nonetheless.

I took a chance on this tripod as there were no reviews yet since its a new product and I do like to read reviews first before purchasing. I've been looking around for a tripod light enough that I can travel with and sturdy enough for my DSLR with a zoom lens on. For the price this is an amazing buy.
The tripod is sturdy (and the first day I used it was windy) and light weight. It folds up over itself so that you can easit fit it in a suitcase when traveling. I love the ball head and the flexibility of the legs...it will spread out so that you can get really low to the ground.
I'm glad I took the chance. Definitely a good buy.
