The Oben AC-1400 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with BA-00 Ball Head provides a sturdy base of support for any DSLR, point-and-shoot camera, or a compact camcorder. The head/tripod combination weighs less than 3 lb and bears up to 6.6 lb, to support DSLR cameras even as they're equipped with long zoom lenses.
The AC-1400's four-section aluminum legs are composed of high-tensile-strength, extremely lightweight extruded aluminum. The legs and center column extend to a maximum height of 57". The beauty of four-section legs is that when folded, the entire tripod/head system contracts to an extremely compact 20". Three flip locks on each leg enable extremely fast deployment and retraction of leg stages. Three leg angles are possible, and pull-out/press-in locks secure the legs in their notches. The legs' angles are independently adjustable to accommodate shooting on uneven terrain. At the widest leg angle, the tripod sits extremely close to the ground to facilitate low-angle shooting.
The AC-1400's rapid center column extends with a twist of the butterfly knob. For protection when it's retracted quickly, there's a rubber damper that protects the center-post collar. Locking screws underneath the collar enable you to fasten the head securely to the center-post collar. By twisting the spring-loaded hook at the bottom end, the center column becomes removable and reversible, for a second method of achieving extremely low-angle shots. The center column's hook holds a counterweight, in case you need additional system stability in windy conditions.
The included quick-release plate attaches to your camera via its standard 1/4"-20 screw. A retractable, removable video pin provides additional stability for camcorders. The quick-release plate easily snaps and locks into place on the BA-00 head. The safety lock on the quick-release mechanism prevents the camera from loosening inadvertently.
The BA-00 head's single-action knob allows you to unlock all axes of movement in one fell swoop, so you can quickly orient your camera properly, retighten the knob, and return to shooting. The ball-locking mechanism is remarkably strong for reliably stable performance. A friction-lock coating on the tripod collar's base plate extends this rock-like solidity to the head's connection point with the tripod itself.
The head's four bubble levels (one is a spirit level) will tell you whether or not your framing hews to the horizon, in both portrait and landscape orientation of the head. (There's a second spirit level on the tripod chassis.)
The head pans a full 360°, and degree markers around its base help you properly orient your shooting. The BA-00 features a 90° groove for tilting the camera to portrait orientation.

Being one of those than never bothers to read instructions I found this product easy and intuitive to use. I like the fact that it is light and compact, that you can easily fix the camera on the head and then easily lock it with one click.
So far I haven't found any downsides and very happy with my purchase

Comments about Oben AC-1400 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with BA-00 Ball Head:
For the price you pay, this is one of the best tripods you can buy. Good quality build and construction, the ball head is smooth and easy to use although the quick release plate feels slightly cheap. Comes with an easy to carry bag for the tripod.

Comments about Oben AC-1400 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with BA-00 Ball Head:
The camera mounting bracket is not very user friendly...my only complaint. For the money, I am very satisfied. Nice carry bag. I like the 2 bubble levels and overall quality construction.

Comments about Oben AC-1400 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with BA-00 Ball Head:
This is a great tripod! Lightweight, small, eye level max height.
One defect mine had. The very first time I released the camera mount on top, the lever to lock/unlock the mount locked itself in the open position. So I haven't been able to use it! Hopefully this is just my product and BH will replace it for me :).
Other than this, seems fantastic! Worth the extra money when you're dealing with nice equipment. But if you're on a budget, there are plenty of $20-$50 tripods that do just fine. The main difference is the material and how smooth the movements are.

Comments about Oben AC-1400 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with BA-00 Ball Head:
Overall, a nice, relatively inexpensive tripod. Very compact. Lots of adjustability with the legs. i.e. height and accounting for uneven terrain. Not a huge fan of the camera mounting bracket, seems a little bulky to me.

Comments about Oben AC-1400 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with BA-00 Ball Head:
I purchased this tripod to provide an anti-shake platform for my new Pentax K-5. As I've gotten older (60+) and, with nine heart surgeries, steadiness is an issue; but then so is price when on a fixed income. This tripod meets both of these goals.
Pros: It comes with a ball head with a level giving you simplicity in setup. It will fit into the rear box on my motorcycle.
cons: It could be lighter, but then it would be more expensive.
Conclusion: For the price this will be a great first tripod when cost might be an issue.

Comments about Oben AC-1400 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with BA-00 Ball Head:
good price for its value. comes with a ballhead that you can remove if you please. Hydrostatic levels are useful as well. Lightweight. Comes w/ a bag for carrying as well. Only downside is that the quick release plate is thicker than desired and makes it difficult to keep it on when not using the tripod.
