The Oben AC-1410 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with BA-0 Ball Head provides a sturdy base of support for any DSLR, point-and-shoot camera, or a compact camcorder. The head/tripod combination weighs just over 3 lb and bears up to 11 lb, to support DSLR cameras even as they're equipped with long zoom lenses and multiple accessories.
The AC-1410's four-section aluminum legs are composed of high-tensile-strength, extremely lightweight extruded aluminum. The legs and center column extend to a maximum height of 60.4". The beauty of four-section legs is that when folded, the entire tripod/head system contracts to an extremely compact 21". Three flip locks on each leg enable extremely fast deployment and retraction of leg stages. Three leg angles are possible, and pull-out/press-in locks secure the legs in their notches. The legs' angles are independently adjustable to accommodate shooting on uneven terrain. At the widest leg angle, the tripod sits extremely close to the ground to facilitate low-angle shooting.
The AC-1410's rapid center column extends with a twist of the butterfly knob. For protection when it's retracted quickly, there's a rubber damper that protects the center-post collar. Locking screws underneath the collar enable you to fasten the head securely to the center-post collar. By twisting the spring-loaded hook at the bottom end, the center column becomes removable and reversible, for a second method of achieving extremely low-angle shots. The center column's hook holds a counterweight, in case you need additional system stability in windy conditions.
The included quick-release plate attaches to your camera via its standard 1/4"-20 screw. A retractable, removable video pin provides additional stability for camcorders. The quick-release plate easily snaps and locks into place on the BA-0 head. The safety lock on the quick-release mechanism prevents the camera from loosening inadvertently.
The BA-0 head's single-action knob allows you to unlock all axes of movement in one fell swoop, so you can quickly orient your camera properly, retighten the knob, and return to shooting. The ball-locking mechanism is remarkably strong for reliably stable performance. A friction-lock coating on the tripod collar's base plate extends this rock-like solidity to the head's connection point with the tripod itself.
The head's four bubble levels (one is a spirit level) will tell you whether or not your framing hews to the horizon, in both portrait and landscape orientation of the head. (There's a second spirit level on the tripod chassis.)
The head pans a full 360°, and degree markers around its base help you properly orient your shooting. The BA-0 features a 90° groove for tilting the camera to portrait orientation.

Comments about Oben AC-1410 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with BA-0 Ball Head:
I travel quite a bit, and needed a tripod that was light, relatively compact, and sturdy enough to stand up to airline abuse...
The AC-1410 seems to fit the bill for all the above requirements. It's compact enough to fit in my suitcase, and light enough to attach to my backpack. Extended fully, it's stiff enough to dampen out any vibrations from my camera in about one second.
The ball head's action is smooth. With my Canon 50D and 24-70 f2.8L lens, (about 4 pounds), the ball head locks securely. There is only a minimal amount of 'creep' when the camera is placed in the portrait position with this heavy lens.
Initially, the quick-disconnect plate was a touch loose when attached to the ball head, however tightening the screw on the quick-disconnect lever tightened everything very nicely.
This tripod seems to be a great deal for it's price!

Comments about Oben AC-1410 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with BA-0 Ball Head:
My old tripod, 16 years and counting is on one of it's last 3 legs. I do a lot of hiking in some pretty rugged areas, lots of 3rd class scrambling, just short of needing a rope and long day hikes. I got this tripod to go with a Nikon body and 18-200mm lens. The tripod doesn't weigh much, is compact, has a clip for a shoulder sling and supports the camera very well. I would highly recommend this unit if you need something light, compact and affordable.

Comments about Oben AC-1410 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with BA-0 Ball Head:
Great basic tripod with most of the features of the more expensive Oben models. Love the flexibility of the head and having several built in leveling bubbles. For basic shooting with a normal sized DSLR and lens it serves the purpose.

Comments about Oben AC-1410 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with BA-0 Ball Head:
I have a Rebel XTi, Canon 24-105 IS L lens and battery grip, so my concern has been weight, especially as I look to use longer lenses. This tripod and ball head did not disappoint. At the price, I'm near giddy.

Comments about Oben AC-1410 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with BA-0 Ball Head:
I don't use a tripod that often but still wanted something that was rock solid without the heavy price. This tripod is perfect.
Packs away in a small package, has a ball head included and is very sturdy for the price tag. I use it mainly for outdoor baseball ball games, on my 70-200 mm lens with 2x Extender.
The ball head included is perfect, and easily supports the weight of my Canon 5D Mark II, with the heavy 70-200 2.8 lens.

Comments about Oben AC-1410 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with BA-0 Ball Head:
I am very pleased with this tripod. I haven't had it out in the field yet but indoors it is very stable and the ballhead works very simply and smoothly. I love the light weight and compactness. The overall quality is more than I expected. The only thing I would change about it is for it to have more adjustment in leg positions that I think might be helpful on uneven ground. For the price it is a great deal.

Comments about Oben AC-1410 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with BA-0 Ball Head:
I'm very satisfied with this tripod and ball head combination. The price seems fair especially considering the apparent quality of this item. Since I've just gotten it I can't speak for how durable it will be but it looks like it will hold up just fine. The features I like are the quick release mechanism for your camera, the multiple bubble levels and the surprisingly nice carrying case. Oben's customer service is also good. One of the levels on my original tripod was low on fluid. Oben arranged for an immediate replacement. Good customer service like that is worth extra points.

Comments about Oben AC-1410 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with BA-0 Ball Head:
This is a light weight tripod. While it's not a great tripod, it's not a bad tripod. It's more suited to a smaller lightweight camera than a larger pro body with a heavy lens. The ball head works smoothly and has plenty of level bubbles. Fit and finish is good and a carrying case is a nice feature. They even throw in a couple hex wrenches to adjust the tension on the legs.

Comments about Oben AC-1410 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with BA-0 Ball Head:
Just carried this tripod on a 13 mile backpacking trip in the Great Smoky Mountains and really enjoyed using it on the trail. Well made, easy to use and a good case came with the tripod. A good all around choice between the big heavy models and the often flimsy ultra light models. I shoot a Nikon D-90 with a 70-300mm lens and it handles the weight great. I carry it everywhere I go as you never know when a quick photo opportunity may arise.

Comments about Oben AC-1410 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with BA-0 Ball Head:
I bought this to replace a rather old 3 axis tripod of about the same size. I love the ball adjustment its much simpler. Seems to be of good quality materials and workmanship. The legs were far more adjustable in span than my old one which translates to a very stable stance. I found it to still be light enough to tote around on long treks.

Comments about Oben AC-1410 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with BA-0 Ball Head:
I bought this tripod for use with a new Canon 60D. I have found it easy to use under a variety of conditions, both indoor and outdoor, and it handles the camera weight without flinching. The materials are lightweight, but rugged. The legs extend smoothly and lock tight.
This is the first time I have used a ball head, and I was a little uncertain. But it is very easy to set and adjust, and well detailed - locking lever, bubble levels, etc.
I would recommend this tripod as a best buy without hesitation.

Just bought this before I took a trip to the mountains and it worked perfectly in every situation. This is the first ball head that I've had a chance to use and I can't believe I went so long without one.
