The 1TB LinkStation Duo LS-WXL/1D Network Hard Drive from Buffalo is a dual-bay network storage device with a single 1TB disk installed. This allows you to add a second internal drive to the enclosure when your storage needs increase.
The LinkStation Duo connects to your network via Gigabit Ethernet, allowing you to access it from any computer on your LAN. It can also act as a DLNA media server, streaming video and music to UPnP devices, including the PlayStation 3. The drive also has a built-in iTunes Server, which allows you to host your iTunes library on your network so that is accessible from all computers in your home, and a BitTorrent client that can download files directly to the drive -- even when your computer is off. It is compatible with Apple's Time Machine backup system, making it easy to protect the data on all of your Macs via network backup.
The drive also features a hardware RAID controller. As a RAID system requires at least two disks to operate, you'll need to add a second disk to the enclosure to take advantage of this feature. Once you do, you can opt to configure the drive as a RAID 0 for maximum capacity and performance, a RAID 1 for real-time data mirroring, or a JBOD which simply treats each disk as an individual volume.

Comments about Buffalo 1TB LinkStation Duo LS-WXL/1D Network Hard Drive:
This is the hub of my home media service. With the bonus of being a network back up drive, a print server, and off site back up for family(web access). Work perfectly very easy.
Only cons: would not play mkv files overDLNA out of the box. Had to google search how to enable Linux print serving to get to work with my printer.
