Seagate 2TB Barracuda XT 3.5" Internal Kitted Hard Drive
The 2TB Barracuda XT 3.5" Internal Kitted Hard Drive from Seagate is a high-capacity, high-performance internal hard drive for installation in Mac and Windows computer systems. The disk features a SATA 6Gbps interface, and is fully compatible with legacy SATA 1.5Gbps and SATA 3Gbps hosts.
Spinning at 7200rpm, the drive features an amazing 64MB of cache memory for superlative performance. It supports Native Command Queuing (NCQ) and uses perpendicular recording technology to store data. The kit includes a SATA interface cable, power cable, mounting screws, software CD-ROM, and an installation guide.

Drive has been installed for a couple weeks. It replaced a 3yr old 1Tb Seagate drive. The older drive was working fine, just filling up and slowing down because of that. Installation was trivial and speed is 2x that of the older drive. The only issue was a single bad sector that was re-mapped by Seagate utilities. No issues since. Drives this large often have some bad sectors. Re-map them and watch. As long as the initial number was low (1 in my case) and no others appear - joy.

This drive is great. Put it in a hotswap slot added Seagates software poof up and running. Very quiet runs cool the only thing wrong is it does help me type. I have always used WD before I have two black Caviliers first failed in 2 days the second I have had to reformat twice in two months. I am just going to order another Seagate .

I bought two of these to add to an older Dell XPS 410 system (w/ Q6600 quad core, 8GB Corsair Ram) specifically to get my Adobe Premiere CS5 to run optimally. They work great. So I now have 4 7200RPM Seagate drives running in this system. I have one 2TB Barracuda XT running Windows 7-64bit and my Adobe CS5 Suite. I have the other 2TB Barracuda XT handling my original video footage and Premiere project files. The older 2 Seagate drives I already had in the computer are now configured in RAID 0 and combined they make up 1TB of space. This RAID array is set up to handle my Premiere page file, media cache, and previews. To really max out this old machine, I also bought a Nvidia Quadro 4000 video card. I must admit, this machine is now running like a champ. B&H actually had the best price I could find on the 2TB Seagate Barracuda XT's. I highly recommend them.

I'm an editor/ visual effects artist, and storage and speed is a plus, especially when its 4k.
Works great with raid 5 and offers a great speed boost.
I find seagates quite reliable, however I have had 2 die in the past year. All drives die, these just seems to last a little longer. BACKUP YOUR FILES!

After purchase, I saw it was a 6GB/sec drive. I was concerned that it would not work in my SATA 3GB/sec system but it connected & was rcognized with no problems. Ran the software and I had a 2TB scratch disk that noticeably sped up my entire system. I hadn't realized that the 100GB drive I had been using was dragging down the whole computer. Main drive is a 2TB RAID 10.
