Comments about Cascade Microphones Fat Head Lundahl Ribbon Microphone Pair with Blumlein Bar (Brown/Gold):
If you are even looking at this item, you probably are already aware of the wondrous world of ribbon mics. I can't say enough good things about this stereo pair, or Cascade as a company. The sound is just unbelievable. If you've ever desired to have a mic capture the real sound your ears are hearing, you need to check these out. Micing a vocal or acoustic string instrument (cello/violin, acoustic guitar etc) at about 18" is my favorite use, closer position yields plenty of musically pleasing bass tip-up. The Blumlein config is great for live recording of small string sections or jazz or folk combos (with only minimal spot micing). These have quickly become my go-to mics for about 75% of my recording. The Lundahl upgrade is highly recommended. The brown/gold finish is a nice touch, even if merely superficial. Simply AMAZING mic for the price, or any price really.
