This was the first time I had used the Kodachrome replacement and it is much warmer than I expected with fairly rich color translation. You might not get those Kodachrome reds quite so densely saturated, but you do get a full color range and gradation of light ...

Now that Kodachrome is a thing of the past, this Kodak stock is really the only color option for super-8 shooters of reversal stock. Though it lacks the dazzle of Kodachrome, it is solid for color use.

I well be using this film for 2 documentaries. One is for a steam locomotive, the other one is still in pre-planning stage. I choosed this film for it's color, and low grain. The only draw back is that this film doesn't have a sound track. Kodak made a big mistake for discontinuing it, even though their APS Film does have a magnetic track. I would have given it a 5 star rating if it had a magnetic track!

I couldn't be happier with the results. The colors are rich with tight grain and excellent contrast. I shot a wedding with this and it just looks fantastic. Highly recommended to any first time or casual Super 8 filmmaker. For professional work I would recommend Vision 3 stock as it has more latitude.

In a digital age there are many of us who prefer traditional photography. Kodak Ektachrome 100D is ideal for anyone who enjoys the look and feel of Super 8. I am one of those people, and Ektachrome is my film of choice. I know from experience it has a very fine grain and produces beautiful, well-balanced color indoors and out. Moreover, four generations of my family's well preserved movies and photographs speak for Kodak's consistent film quality. Best of all, B&H Photo consistently provides the best price of all Super 8 retailers I have found.

I'm using this product for a film project at VCU. I am hand developing the film myself and it's so great that I am able to do this with this film... The colors are amazing and I am really happy!

Needs to be used outside for best images
Clear sharp and consistent
Very grainy which is good if you want that but not if you want smooth.

I use this stock in multiple Super 8 cameras. From the auto focus, point-n-shoot Canon AF310XL to the Beaulieu 4008; excellent results.
This is the only color reversal made by Kodak left in Super 8 which replaced the Ektachrome 64T. Having a daylight emulsion is definitely a plus.
We all miss Kodachrome but if you are transferring this to video I believe it looks better than Kodachrome for that use. Projected, Kodachrome will look amazing but the color is more pastel and not as accurate as Ektachrome 100D.

Comments about Kodak 7285 Ektachrome 100D Super 8 Silent Film (50'):
This is a much better stock than 64T. At first I was skeptical. It would be better if it was Tungsten balanced because it is easier to go to the other direction with balancing filters. However, this film has tighter grain, better color, and an overall better look than 64T. This stuff actually makes me not feel so bad about Kodachrome 40T going away. Very happy.

Comments about Kodak 7285 Ektachrome 100D Super 8 Silent Film (50'):
Shot my rolls on a Canon 1014XLS, and they came out better than any previous stock I've shot on. The colors are very saturated and the detail is extremely crisp. I used to worry about the dwindling options available in this format, but honestly, I no longer interested in using any stock other than Ektachrome 100D from here on out
