LensCoat 3 Axis Hot Shoe Bubble Level
LensCoat's 3 Axis Hot Shoe Bubble Level allows you to level a camera on 3 planes. The bubble level comes encased in a crystal clear housing with green fluid, and mounts effortlessly into the hot shoe of any standard 35mm SLR camera.
When attached to your camera the bubble level allows you to switch from landscape to portrait orientation, giving you precise control over the positioning of the camera. I've had a lot of problems with the horizon on my sunset pictures. In the dim light after sunset it is very hard to tell if the horizon is level. Often an otherwise great shot has a sloping horizon! This has been very frustrating since I'm using high-quality gear (Canon 5D MkII with L lenses). I ordered the Hot Shoe Bubble Level a couple of weeks ago and have seen a drastic improvement in my images. This little product does a whole-lotta good!

The product itself does well, my only issue is that it is a very very tight fit in the hot shoe. I have to force it in and when taking it off I feel as if I may just pull the whole port off or break the level. I figure I will shave it down to make a better fit, but for [$] I figure I wouldnt have to do this..

I have been playing with taking Panorama's and this little device makes leveling the camera a snap. It helps to eliminate the "bowtie" effect and makes stitching the frames together so much easier.

This level is not level. the bubbles are very small and never touch both leveling guide lines & therefore it is just about impossible to read. The leveling tubes are not parallel with any of the sides or base & so cannot be used to find the level position. The only plus is that it fit easily into the flash shoe - but was not level with the shoe. Someone threw quality control out the window when they made this.
It is also way too big for its intended purpose.
I tried to remark it to indicate the correct level, but eventually threw it in the trash.

Having three axes for leveling is very useful. A good fit in the hot shoe, not too tight, not too loose. Wish the lines were a bit closer together, would be quicker to achieve level. But all in all a good buy.

Poor quality all around. The 3 tubes are not perfect cylinders and the centering guide lines are so far apart you cannot judge accurately enough if the bubble is even centered. It only fits halfway into the hotshoe and it feels like it's going to break every time I try to remove it.

I've tried many different bubble levels and this by far is the best. Very easy to read. Slides in and out easily but fit is snug as it should be so as not to move around once seated in the hot shoe.

A snug fit in the hot shoe is good so it does fall out but it's fit is so tight that you really have to struggle to get it on and off the camera. Having said that, once it is on the camera, it makes setting up the camera to be level a snap no matter how it is oriented.
