The Aurora Automation NXT-700V In-Wall Color Touch Panel Controller w/ Video is a powerful, attractive 7 inch home control interface that's designed to be part of a professionally installed home automation system.
It sports a 7 inch (177.8 mm) diagonally measured touch screen interface set in an aluminum bezel. The NXT-700V is fully programmable. That means you can tell your system installer that you want one installed near the door to the back deck that say, turns the hot tub on and off and controls its temperature, turns the back lights on and off and just about any other electrical or electronic function you can imagine.
But it's the "V" for video in its model number that points to a revolutionary development that sets the 700V apart from other controllers. It can actually display video inputs up to 1080p right on the screen, scaling them as necessary and even showing them transparently.
One feed might be from an exterior surveillance camera while another could show what your young child is watching on TV in the family room. Input types include HDMI, component and S-video with complementary audio inputs.
The 700V has Bluetooth and a Bluetooth microphone option for public announcement applications. It also includes an internal audio mixer to offer a total solution.
The NXT-700V is also Internet-ready. TCP/IP (the protocol for Internet communications), DHCP and DNS (more Internet protocols) and email support are all built-in. Remote diagnostics and remote programming are also built in and the NXT-700 even has its own built-in Web server.
Imagine driving home from your vacation cottage and wondering if you closed the garage door. Pull off the highway to a coffee shop that offers free Wi-Fi. With your netbook or smart phone you can check the garage surveillance camera and, if the door is open and it's wired into the system, order it to close.
We're not commuting to work in jet packs yet, but if we do some day, you'll probably use your NXT-700V to make sure yours is fueled and ready to go.
