Comments about Aluratek 2-Port USB 3.0 SuperSpeed Express Card:
I purchased this express card to use with a Toshiba Canvio USB 3.0 drive and my HP 8530p laptop. I did a read test and get a 3x increase in speed using the USB 3.0 interface compared to the USB 2 interface. Note that when writing a lot of small files to a hard drive, you won't get a big burst over USB 2.0 because all the directory entries must be made and slow down data transfer. However, large files do transfer faster and the read speed is as fast as my internal drive. I boot from a CD when I image my hard drive, so I don't use the USB 3.0 card when I do that. (Don't know if it will load the drivers booting from the CD or not--I doubt it.) Note that this card includes the auxiliary power supply which is needed for some external hard drives. (That is the reason I got it--along with the rebate that was offered.) No problems with installation or operation. The card fits into my PC fairly securely and doesn't stick out, but it is a half-width card and does not fill the whole Express Card slot.
