I recently had bought an external hard drive to do backups and it was USB 2.0/3.0 capable. I didn't have the adapter for the USB 3.0 on my tower so I needed one. It installed without any problems and the transfer rates are faster. I don't know if it lives up the 10 times faster, but I haven't timed anything. All in all a solid product.
