The Bescor LED-35DA 35W LED Swivel Shoe B&H Kit adds the SA-1 Universal Swivel Shoe Adapter to this enhanced version of the LED-35D video and DSLR light. This allows the light to be attached to any camera's shoe mount, including Sony cameras (via a mini hotshoe adapter), and adds the ability to swivel the light in all directions. This provides increased directionality over mounting it directly to the camera's shoe mount, letting you better control the fall of light on your subject.

    • Fairly even output
    • Light Weight
    • Low Price
    • price

    Cons

    • Amber filter too light
    • CREATES VISIBLE NOISE
    • Horrible customer service
    • NOISE ON VIDEO

    Best Uses

    • A high Powered flashlight
    • Maybe for still images
    • Not for DSLR HD Video

As everyone else, I bought this as a fill light when shooting video on my D300s. I had high hopes for this light but I guess they were too high. Upon receiving it I was very impressed. I didn't care that it was plastic construction (those complaints are ridiculous especially for the price point), anything else would have made it too heavy for my already heavy Nikon D300s custom rig. Initially, I did not use a light when shooting DSLR Video because with a fast 2.8 lens my D300s shoots very nice HD video. But, when in a dark reception site or a severely back-lit scene you absolutly need a good, adjustable fill light. I customized my setup so that I had the Bescor light attached along with my SB 800 for quick photo/video shooting and it work(ed) perfectly... Until I noticed noise lines on the LCD of the camera. At first I thought it may be the light/dimmer interfering with the LCD monitor. But, when I reviewed footage from my last wedding, sure enough the noise was all over the image. I did more tests with light in different positions attached to the camera bracket and still the noise was visible. I even hand held the light and the noise still appeared. I shot a light on/off comparison to confirm that without a doubt the light was creating noise on the final video. I was very disappointed because: 1) the dimmer feature is a fantastic albeit necessary feature. 2)The light output is fairly even. 3) I threw away the packaging and now I can't return it for a different (read: more expensive) light.I don't review products too much, but when I do I try to be as honest and objective as possible because that what I want to see when I am spending my very hard earned $$$. Even though this light was only $100+, it's $100 down the drain, and $100 I could have used towards the purchase of a light that actually gives me the results I need. If Bescor could address this issue they would have a complete winner. But as it stands, the best use for this light for Professionals who shoot for a living is as an expensive flashlight when getting to their cars late at night after the reception is over. One more note: I tried to contact Bescor several times asking if they had a fix to the noise issue and did not get a reply. I value good customer service and keep purchasing from companies who have it. I guess I won't be buying Bescor again! If anyone is interested, I have a very nice flashlight for sale: only $50 plus shipping.
