Whether you are shooting in the studio or outdoors, the Pearstone Wired Remote Switch provides photographers with simple way to control exposures and an easy-to use-tool to create more "keepers".
The unit provides functionality such as: autofocusing, continuous shooting or single image capture and long time exposures. Since you can trigger exposures without touching the camera you will capture clear, blur-free images. The unit requires no batteries - it draws its power from the camera.
The Wired Remote Switch is a huge asset to keep in your studio or gear bag. This particular wired switch uses a cable that's 2.8' (86 cm) long, and is compatible with cameras that have a 10-pin connection, i.e. Nikon, Fuji and Kodak DSLRs.

This is a must for macro, product, or low light photography. If you "need" to use a tripod you need this. Don't use the auto timer and wait 2,5, or 10 seconds while you test the light.. add/remove light retest the light move the product.. test shot again... you control everything else on the camera why not this?
The cord is long but not to long. This works well with my product photography shooting style where even the slightest touch can cause shake.
The only down side I have found is the short length of the cord but this is only for 1 shot out of 100. Light stands, reflectors on stands, boom arms, tripod legs, tables, table legs, walls and assistants all seem to crowd you for that 1 shot so maybe a little longer cord?
Bottom line for the price of a Mcdonalds #2 combo who shoulden't own one?

I saw this wired remote, and the price, and I thought 'Why not'? It's so much cheaper than the Nikon cord that it was a no-brainer to try. I have the Nikon MC-30 since the 1990's, and while it works fine, at [$] or so I wasn't keen on getting a second one. Sometimes I shoot two bodies, switching between D300 and D700 on a tripod. It's a pain getting those cords attached, and having a second one ready to go is convenient. And sometimes I just want to have a cord in each bag so that if I grab a bag and get in the field, I haven't forgotten to move the cord to that bag.So I'll mostly compare the two. First, the RS-N1 cord works. It plugs in, the shutter release works, and it locks (for bulb more or continuous shooting). Just like the the MC-30.However, it's much cheaper - in build as well as price. When I'm working two cameras in the field, the cord takes a fair amount of abuse. Sometimes it's dangling down when I carry camera and tripod. Often it's wound around the camera. It gets pushed against my ballhead clamp when I rotate the camera. It gets tugged on. The MC-30 has been standing up to this well, and it has a much thicker cable than the RS-N1. I have worries about the thin cable breaking. (I've only had the RS-N1 a couple of weeks). The MC-30 control is physically bigger, and easier to use (especially in the dark) than the RS-N1. It's a little hard to find the button on the remote, and it's a lot harder to find the lock. I'm often not holding the remote and need to grab it while looking through the viewfinder. I can do that a lot easier with the MC-30 than the RS-N1.

This is a great product for a dirt cheap price. All I need a remote release for is to trigger my D-200 without causing camera shake. This does the job.

I recently upgrade from a Nikon D90 to the Nikon D700, so with the big cost of the camera I was looking to add smaller accessories at cheaper prices.
The D700 has a 10-pin port that differs from the smaller port on the D90, so I couldn't use the Nikon remote I already had in my kit. Previously, I bought a third-party brand remote for the D90 that broke after about 6 months of use (the wire cover and wires twisted right off the remote itself). After that I bought a Nikon brand remote and it has remained in great shape ever since.
I was weary about buying another third-party accessory, but for the price, I couldn't pass it up. The remote securely screws in to the D700 port and stays in place. it has all the auto-focus and long shutterspeed functions of the other remotes. Hopefully, it will hold up to the test of time.
Ultimately, its a good value for a much needed accessory and it performs its duties nicely.

Nice light cord (much more flexible than Nikon version), doesn't appear as durable as the Nikon wired remote but for the price you can buy a couple extra.
The only thing that I don't like about it has little tactile feedback - it's hard to tell where to push and how to unlock it without looking at it.

I actually bought this just to get an inexpensive 10pin connector. Sadly only three of the pins are connected and in the cable so doesn't work for what I had wanted/needed. I ended up just using the USB cable and Nikon Capture to control the camera for my tethered application - taking pictures with my D700 through my telescope.
It does what it does, though. If you are just looking for a remote that is inexpensive then this is it.
I took it completely apart. The contacts are simple and unremarkable but an example of good-enough. Otherwise seems well made.
And this is much smaller than the Nikon MC-30 and a lot less expensive.
The cord is thin and perhaps a little on the short side at 34" - either an advantage or disadvantage depending on use.

I bought this remote switch to eliminate camera vibration when taking long exposure shots. I didn't feel a wireless remote was necessary, so went the less expensive route. It works like a charm on my Nikon D200.

As a Nikon D300S shooter I was disappointed that my D90 remote didn't work with the 300. Didn't want to put up the money for the Nikon alternative so when I saw this product noted by a Nikonian at their site I decided to try it. First outing was a trip to Patagoina and it worked perfectly. A great, low-cost alternative, well worth it. Highly recommend it, especially for tripod shooting.
