The Olympus PT-048 is a stylish and durable polycarbonate housing for the Olympus Stylus Tough 6020 and Tough 8010 digital cameras. The housing is for anyone looking to pursue underwater digital photography. This durable housing provides an attractive shield for your digital camera as you explore your underwater surroundings at depths up to 131' (40m). A tight O-ring main seal, along with the rotary buckle closure system, helps keep your camera safe.
The housing gives you full control over your camera. It features a large, responsive shutter button, precision zoom lever, and durable controls so you can take advantage of everything your Olympus digital camera has to offer.
An integrated flash diffuser panel lets you utilize your camera's internal flash for lighting purposes. For professional results, you can also use the internal flash to trigger a slaved external strobe like those made by Olympus, Sea & Sea, Ikelite, Sealife or Fantasea.
The port of the PT-048 housing accepts the threads of a 52mm wide-angle conversion lens. This will increase the angle of view so you can get much closer to your subject while fitting everything in the frame. By reducing the amount of water between the subject and your camera lens, the resulting image will be crisp and colorful.

Comments about PT-048 Underwater Housing f/ Olympus Stylus Tough 6020 & Tough 8010:
I used to have an old Olympus Stylus so I upgrade to the new Tough 8010....since I dive I wanted to take it deeper so I got this housing to do so...the first 2 times I used it I was upset and wanted to return it because the inside during the dive would have condensation 5 mins after I started my dive. After investigating it I realized that my old housing was clear and this one is black so you have to be aware when putting your camera in the housing to NOT do it in air conditioning!!!! Thats what did it! I would prepare the camera inside then take it outside in the Florida heat to use it! Also be aware that to stop the condensation from coming put the housing in a bucket of H2O, thats helps too. So now that I know these tricks I haven't had the problem. So I am happy taking my photos underwater!

does exactly what it should do. I wish it would float, or have positive buoyancy.

Comments about PT-048 Underwater Housing f/ Olympus Stylus Tough 6020 & Tough 8010:
I use this u/w housing for my Olympus 6020 camera when doing my openwater diving trips and I must say I am quite impressed with the housing. The properly labelled buttons make it easy to operate even underwater. Surprisingly, even when the camera is sealed in the housing, clear sounds can still be obtained when capturing videos underwater. However, it would be better if the package includes one or two additional replacement O-rings. Another thing, the filter or adapter thread should be at 67 mm instead of the current diameter. Other than that, I'm happy with the product. [...]

as advertized, this product fits my Olympus 8010 perfectly. all of the buttons seem to line up perfectly with the controls on the camera so that the camera is fully functional.
have not had it in the water yet to test its water proof usefulness, but will do that in a few weeks when i can go to a warmer climate. am not really interested in doing any ice diving in Chicago right now!
there is also an included adaptor so that the 6020 should work in the unit.
on land, at least, the unit seems great and was a great buy.

This housing extended the range of my tough 6020 to 130ft. Not to mention the protection it gives to the 6020. Simple to use, and easy to seal.
Just remember to remove the o- ring at the end of the season.

Good things do come in small packages and this is one of them. The controlls are set up well and easy to use. Everything about this housing is well thought out and controlls are in logical places. The instructions are easy and only one "O" ring to worry about. I wish it had been built to go to 180 feet so I felt like I had a little cushion on the deeper wall dives that can go down to 160 feet but stil a great piece of equipment for shallow and intermediate depth dives.

Comments about PT-048 Underwater Housing f/ Olympus Stylus Tough 6020 & Tough 8010:
Previously had an Olympus housing for another point and shoot camera. The PT-048 was a nice upgrade, with a top bracket for attaching an array of focus or other lighting. The buttons on the PT-048 are clearly marked and legible underwater. Overall, the case is a superb performer at depth and a nice improvement from my previous PT-015 housing.

I bought this housing to use with the Olympus Stylus Tough 8010 for a dive trip to Hawaii.
The housing worked as it was supposed to. Easy installation of the O-ring and camera boot. No problems with leakage. Easy to use.
Appears sturdy and durable. Like the black color, making it easier to distinguish from all the Cannon and Ikelite housings others seem to have.

Good solid housing for those taking it to recreational depths.
I will put on an underwater filter on it more to protect the lens than anything else.
Heavier than most, but easy to use. Really like the sealing mechanism. Can't inadvertently open it when getting in to, or out of the boat.

Comments about PT-048 Underwater Housing f/ Olympus Stylus Tough 6020 & Tough 8010:
With my Olympus 8010, this is a great centerpiece for my scuba diving photography/video setup. Unlike the Ikelite underwater case I use with my Olympus 8000, the PT-048 has a top bracket for attaching an array of focus or other lighting--a real plus. Also unlike my Ikelite case, the buttons on the PT-048 are clearly marked and legible underwater--no searching for the desired function. The only issue I have with the PT-048 is the awkwardness in smoothly depressing the shutter switch when the case is mounted center position on a dual-arm lighting accessory tray. Getting hand/fingers into a comfortable position between the right-most light fixture on the tray and the case is challenging, especially when wearing gloves. Overall, however, the case is a superb performer in the depths.
