Berg Bath Hypo and Toning Solution Eliminator has two important applications for producing a greater archival permanence.
- Used as an excellent hypo eliminator after fixing
- Used for quickly eliminating residual toning formulation after toning with Berg Brown/Copper, Brilliant Blue, Golden Yellow, Selenium, RC Sepia (Bath 1) and Color Toning System (Activator).
- For films and papers dilute 4 oz. of Berg Bath Hypo and Toning Solution Eliminator concentrate to 1 gallon of water (1:31).

This is the only product that says it eliminates toner solution in addition to hypo. I use a lot of selenium toner so it is important to me. Now to be fair: it could be that all hypo clear removes toner residue as well, but this is the only product that explicitly states this and that is why this is the only archival wash I'll use.

The other two reviews criticize Berg Bath for not eliminating water spots - a task this product is not made for! This is a hypo-eliminator, which helps shorten wash times after fixing film (an old nickname for fixer is 'hypo,' therefore the name of this product - hypo eliminator!). B&H's description of this product is accurate.
If you want a product to eliminate water spots, what you want is a wetting agent, like Kodak Photo-Flo 200 or Edwal LFN. Put a few drops into your final wash.

I am very much the amateur, but I was hoping for elimination of water spots on my film. This hypo seems to help (there are fewer spots), but there are still a significant number of spots on the film. On the up side, it is quick and easy and will hopefully preserve the negatives longer than just a water bath.
