I am a professional videographer and was recently on a shoot in NYC. About an hour before the shoot I realized my heavy battery belt that I use to power my on camera Frezzi was dead! With no time to re-charge the battery belt I hopped in a cab -down to BH and picked up this light because it could run on 6 AA batteries-right now.
I have had a couple other LED lights and not been happy with the output for interviews in dark clubs, and even when I would manage to get close enough so the other LED lights would be bright enough I wouldn't care for the color temperature, and to change the temperature I would have to use a cheap and easily lost filter for the front of the light.
This Ikan LED light puts out a nice amount of light-from 0-10' and is dimmable. I also love the fact that you can select from the multiple levels of light temperature. For a nice lightweight, easy to travel with light this one is definitely going to stay part of my traveling kit. The case that comes with the light is also great and has plenty of room to fit in some other gear.
The first of 3 LED lights I have purchased that I will actually use and does a great job. Not the right light for long throws in the dark but great for the work I do- Run and gun pieces cover nightclub events for the spirits industry.
When the light is on it looks a little silly with all the different colored LED lights - I have had a few interviewees comment " Look at all the pretty colors" But the end results are excellent- nice throw, great color temp selection and so much lighter than my 12 pound battery pack I used to travel around with.
I have learned over the years there is no perfect light for every situation and it's best to have a few different lights for on camera work, but this one has to be the best choice for most situations especially when traveling because of its weight and performance.

I use a Leica M9 and thus, don't use flash very often. I find this very useful for backlighting when shooting at night. It is very bright, has a nice carrying case, and can give you at least a good hour of use with batteries.
For its cost, I think the material it's made of could be a lot better. The tripod mount is nice but again very flimsy. I typically take it off and connect it to one of my Benro ball mounts.
If you are like me and take good care of your equipment, the material it's made of is irrelevant but I question how well it will hold up if used frequently.

AA battery life is good.. Adjustable Color temp in conjunction with dimmer gives LOTS of options for different ambient light situations. VERY easy to use and a breeze to adjust on the fly!

Camera-mounted for run and gun, journalism, live events and man on the street.
Great for tricky lighting situations with a combination of tungsten and day light where adjustments need to be made on the fly.
The only downer is the price. It's very expensive. The casing is thin plastic that, frankly, feels cheap (bad thing), but also makes it super-light weight (good thing). Also the AA batteries could be a good or bad thing depending. It's a enviro-bummer and wasteful to replace them often (and this light does burn through batteries when in use) but the upside is that you can find AA batteries almost anywhere almost anytime.

I´we tried it inside to light up a birthday-party using my Panasonic AGHMC-41E camera. My experience is that You have to be within a shooting-range in 3-5 meters to have full effect of this light. The six AA batteries "lit up the candle" for 59 minutes

The best camera light out there. I've owned just about every kind and brand of camera light in the past 30 years. This one does it all! Variable color temps at the touch of a button. No outboard filters to fiddle with and it runs on inexpensive AA batteries or you can power it from a D-Tap. Built in dimmer. The construction is fairly solid ... build is a lot like similar LED lights. Well worth it. My one complaint is that it is more spot than flood but it does indeed put out a nice even illumination.

At several weddings the lighting situation changes very quickly. Having the option to change the color temperature is perfect.
Goodbye Battery Belt! I used one set of rechargeable batteries and still had full power after a 6 hour wedding reception.
It is worth every penny!

The possibilities with this light are really endless....being able to balance your lighting in virtually any lighting situation is a very big plus...and it's accomplished with little effort.
My only gripe is that the batteries seem to be depleted rather quickly. I'm going to experiment with rechargable batteries and lithium, but when I used Energizer Alkalines I did not get much time before the power ran low and then out! Perhaps it was just the batteries I used....really don't yet, but I do love this light so if there's anyway for me to make this work without going through costly battery consumption I will do it!
