The transmitter operates using an internal rechargeable battery that's good for up to 30,000 flashes. The transceiver operates without a battery, drawing power from the strobe it's attached to,

Comments about Elinchrom EL-Skyport RX Trigger Set:
Got these for an outdoor shoot. I did not want to run around to set power levels in front of my client for the numerous shots planned. The transmitter gave me one tenth of a stop per button press. Worked perfectly.
I did notice the on/off switch on the transmitter can easily and accidentally be switched off. So keep an eye on the switches while you work. Other than that - excellent addition to my kit.

Comments about Elinchrom EL-Skyport RX Trigger Set:
Smaller than my other triggers.... The receivers take their power from the RX heads so no batteries needed there and the transmitter uses a flat lithium battery so there's no need to charge and easy to carry a spare. The transmitter and receivers are as small and light as I can imagine and you wouldn't think there was room in the camera unit for the flat battery. It's pretty small.
I like not having to walk over to each head to adjust the power settings on each head that i am using... i just stand right there... and adjust away! I love it!

Comments about Elinchrom EL-Skyport RX Trigger Set:
I have an older Elinchrome AS3000 powerpack with three heads and a new Elinchrom 1200RX strobe. This set works with the 1200RX and easily increases or decreases the flash intensity. It's that small.
The unit lets you fire specific strobes or all strobes as a group. I find this useful when setting-up the lighting.
The transmitter attaches to the camera hot shoe but can also works off-shoe with a PC cord connector (included), which is handy for attaching to your meter or a non-SLR camera (I use 4x5 view cameras as well as SLRs).
The transmitter works well with the Skyport Universal Receiver that I added to handle the older strobe. No controls there... just a wireless trigger. [Note: The Universal Receiver has to be charged. It's not a big deal but one more thing to do. I'd rather that used the same battery as the transmitter.]
I don't happen to use the unit with computer controls for strobing, etc. Not my thing. But, everything works extremely well. Good for anyone. If you have an Elinchrom RX unit I cannot imagine any other choice.
