International orders*Canon's CanoScan 9000F Color Image Scanner delivers detailed film scans at a whopping 9600 x9600 dpi which is enough resolution to create clear, detailed printed enlargements up to at least 20 x 30 inches. It comes with the film holders you need to digitize a strip of six 35mm or four 120 format film images or four mounted slides The 9000F will scan your photos and documents at 4800 x 4800 dpi.
With the CanoScan 9000F you don't have to worry if your originals are showing their age. Canon's built-in FARE Level 3 retouching technology will automatically remove most of an image's dust and scratches while restoring color, all at the same time. Using the Auto Document Fix feature, the 9000F analyzes your scanned documents and automatically corrects the data to yield text that is sharp and clear without altering color tone and contrast. The Gutter Shadow Correction feature is particularly useful when scanning pages of a book, removing the dark shadow created between two pages.
The front panel of the scanner houses seven EZ buttons which automate the scanning process. Four buttons activate various modes to create PDF files. With the Auto Scan button, the 9000F automatically recognizes the type of original, crops it to proper size and saves the digital image in the appropriate file format. Another button enables the scanner to send a copy of a file to a printer and there is also one to create an e-mail attachment.

I tried on a number of occasions to digitize my seemingly endless array of yellowing slides and negatives. I started by using an ordinary flatbed scanner with backlight attachment. Very bad results. …and very time consuming. Then I rented an expensive Nikon CoolPix Film Scanner. The results were good, but it took forever to setup for each slide. Also, it was really slow. It was just not worth the time and money I was spending. Then a year or so later, I purchased a Minolta Dimage Scan Dual III. This also took a long time to setup and was painfully slow at scanning each image. Finally I looked into having this stuff professionally done. However…the cost was exorbitant. After that, I just gave up. That was four years ago.
Well, this year I decided to upgrade from XP to 7. My flatbed Canon LIDE scanner was so old that Canon no longer supported it. Besides, it was time I get a new one anyway. So, why not get one that scans everything. After reading the reviews, I went with the 9000f. I was pleasantly surprised.
Don't let the fact that this is a flatbed scanner turn you off. It is designed for both functions. It seems to do a better job than the Coolpix I rented. Also, the intelligent Auto Scan Mode, makes scanning very quick relative to those other dedicated film scanners. If you don't like the results of the auto scanning, you can quickly switch to manual mode and, with the image preview, you can visually and easily adjust the settings. Also, you can auto scan with no auto adjust.
Features include:
• Multiple scanning functions in one scanner.
• 9600 x 9600 real resolution
• Scans a lot of different film types:
o Scans 24mm APS slides & 28mm Instamatic 126 slides (with manual cropping)
o 35mm Slides,
o 35 filmstrips and negatives with sprocket holes,
o 120 negatives and positives of varying aspect radios.
o This scanner scans both positives and negatives mounted as described here.
• No wall wart! The power supply is built in.
• No annoying wires or attachments for the back light. The top is integrated into the base hiding any wires. And oh-yes, the top neatly and conveniently stays up by itself.
• Auto Scan Mode for fast scanning.
• Unlike those dedicated film scanners, it is easily cleaned. Just wipe it off.
The 9000f does work and you only have to purchase one scanner to do everything.

Don't expect high quality results from this. I have years of negatives in 6x7 format dating back to the early 70s and have enlarged many to 40 x 50 with incredible results, but anything over 5 x 7 with the scanned image looks like it came from a kodak 110.
It will do an acceptable job for digital frames and small prints, but not much else. I am giving mine to my daughter to make family albums.

Comments about Canon CanoScan 9000F Color Image Scanner:
I use the product to scan photos, negatives, some documents. I have done about 300+ scans in about 1 week working about 30 mins to an hour 4 days a week.
The quaility of the scan is great on all levels.
I am happy with the spead of the mid and low level scans, but the high res is way longer then expected. There is a preview scan button and then a scan button.
The only problem that I have with this scanner is the program that comes with it. It is not user friendly you have to push click and save far to many times and even then I had to double check that it was saved. I am sure I will get used to it. I also was not impressed with the spot and dust mask product that is featured in the sale of this item it did OK with some types of dust but not all so I had to check and re-check if the negatives were clean. So I still have to use Photo Shop to finish up where this left off.

Comments about Canon CanoScan 9000F Color Image Scanner:
I use the scanner mainly as scan 35mm slides. I find it a bit difficult to align the film guide. Also find the Navigator software a bit cumbersome. I sure would like to be able to import scans using CS5. There are a lot of extra steps and it messes up the workflow. I find most of the scans are a bit "off" color-wise but easily corrected with CS5.

Comments about Canon CanoScan 9000F Color Image Scanner:
I have set as a lifetime project the scanning of the boxes and boxes of old photos we have collected over many years. I ordered the CanoScan 9000F and am delighted with the results. It scans quickly, quietly, and has excellent color replication. I have scanned 8x10's down to 3x4's, color, faded orange color, black and white, and sepia. All have been high quality scans. The directions are easy to understand and follow. (I have not yet scanned film, so I can't speak to that process.) I highly recommend this scanner to anyone who needs to scan many photos into digital images.

Comments about Canon CanoScan 9000F Color Image Scanner:
Works perfectly out of box. Great slide scans without dust and scratches, but still crisp and clear. Platen scan to exceptionally resolutions were spot on.
Finally a scanner that is just a good scanner and not a do it all system where everything is mediocre.

Comments about Canon CanoScan 9000F Color Image Scanner:
This scanner is really easy to set up and use. The accompanying software is pretty clunky and annoying - I'm a mac user - but it's not complex. I like that you don't have to wait AT ALL for the scanner to warm up since it's LED, but, like all scanners, high res scans do take a while.
I use this mainly for scanning medium format and 35mm film. Color accuracy is okay as long as you're very particular about setting the exposure levels by hand for each frame, rather than letting the scanner do it automatically for a whole filmstrip. Unfortunately, this makes it a bit more time-consuming. It has some other rudimentary controls, like backlight reduction, dust and scratch reduction, etc. though I don't use them much. I prefer to make those corrections by hand in Photoshop. It can definitely scan to a high enough resolution to enlarge negatives.
Generally, I'm pretty happy with this scanner and the images I'm getting from it. The main downsides are the software and scanning interface, but they're tolerable.

Comments about Canon CanoScan 9000F Color Image Scanner:
I looked around quite a bit before buying this scanner. Lots of scanners out there, lots of reviews, lot's of advice to take. So let me just be direct, this machine is versatile, feels/sounds strong, and it's a safe bet if you're worried about where you're going. Canon + B&H; you know you're going to get quality. And I'm very glad I bought this over the other scanners out there; all those Epsons and what have you. I use it primarily to scan my Fuji Instax prints, as well as other photo prints, and the colors are marvelous. Very spot on. B&H of course was great, they're a trustworthy bunch. I'm very happy with my purchase and I'm sure you will be too!

Purchased for downloading older photos dating as far back as 1870's. Works great and details of photos very crisp and clear. Have not tried slides or negatives to date, this is why I rated only a 4 out of 5. I'm pleased with this produst to date.

I bought the scanner to digitize family photos. It was easy to set up, and it does a wonderful job. It automatically separates individual photos - which is a great time-saver. Very quick to start up, just plug-and-play. It is a great scanner for the price. Canon makes good products.

I use the scanner for scanning my art as well as old photos and film strips.
The color capture is exactly what I wanted and I'm very happy with the product.
I'm still investigating how to use programs that came with it so am unable to make a fair assessment at this time. I mostly use Photoshop 7 to scan art images.
My only wish would be that it came with a larger bed for my larger pieces of art :)

Absolutely love this scanner. Bought one (Innovative Technolgies) last year for Christmas and and thought I got a great deal. Once I got around to using it the scanned quality was not that great. Tried to research how to make it better and then realized I should have done my research prior to purchasing. I then did my research and decided on the CanoScan. I got this about two weeks ago and have scanned in close to 1000 35mm slides. Getting ready to work on scanning in some negatives. This product is well worth the extra investment.
