IT'S A DECENT GRIP FOR THE PRICE BUT IT DOESNT QUITE FIT AS PERFECTLY AS THE CANON GRIP. THE PLASTIC IS A LITTLE ON THE FLIMSY SIDE BUT IT WILL DO THE JOB WELL IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A QUICK FIX. IF YOU ARE A SERIOUS PHOTOG THEN GO WITH THE CANON GRIP AND AVOID THE CHEAP WAY OUT.

Comments about Vello BG-C1 Battery Grip for Canon EOS XS, XSi, and T1i:
I bought this along with an extra used Canon battery.
Upon opening, I noticed that the grip seemed very well constructed, while not being too heavy.
Ive used this new grip on at least 3-4 photoshoots and I absolutely love it. The extra battery life is great. Its has the zoom -/+ on the bottom right along with a shutter button on the front portion for when you hold the camera vertical. There is also an AV button on the rear section. The rubber is not bulky or thick, and very nice to hold onto.
I have not used the 6 AA battery option tray, so I can not comment on that.
Great grip. When I buy a second camera for a backup, I will be getting another grip from Vello.

Comments about Vello BG-C1 Battery Grip for Canon EOS XS, XSi, and T1i:
As an event photographer I am often on shoots that last from four - eight hours. This grip feels sturdy to hold and solidly attaches to the camera. Holding two batteries, I do not worry about running out of juice. However, with the ability to use 6AA batteries, the additional power backup is a plus.
Other than adding the use of an additional battery, the ability to take portrait (as opposed to landscape) shots without contorting is very nice and helps stave off fatigue during long shoots.
To use this grip the batter door of the camera must be removed. There is a handy storage location for the door on the grip, but it doesn't hold the door tightly. The battery door rattles sometimes when handling the camera.

Comments about Vello BG-C1 Battery Grip for Canon EOS XS, XSi, and T1i:
I'm using this on my Canon T1i - it looks like it came with the Camera. I've been using the Camera on and off for about a week and the battery indicator is still on three bars.
All of the vertical grip buttons and function wheel work fine.
Initially I couldn't get the camera to turn on, but then figured out I wasn't closing the battery door all the way. Once I did that, it worked perfectly.

Comments about Vello BG-C1 Battery Grip for Canon EOS XS, XSi, and T1i:
At 2/3 the cost of the Canon's battery grip, this is great value! Very easy to attach to my Canon camera. All the buttons in the battery pack are in the right position for vertical/portrait, which makes it very user friendly. Having the capability of being able to use AA batteries when charger is not available for any reason is a big plus! I absolutely would not hesitate to recommend this to any Canon owner.

Comments about Vello BG-C1 Battery Grip for Canon EOS XS, XSi, and T1i:
I have big hands and I take a lot of pics in my profession. So having the increased handle length makes it a lot easier for me to hold well and steady for longer periods of time. Also, the two battery feature is great for giving me more shooting time with less recharging.

I bought this grip hoping it would allow me to be able to better grip my camera. It has not disappointed. While it does add a little extra weight, having it makes the camera much easier to handle. It also makes taking photos vertically alot easier.
I am sold on this grip.

just great! work`s fabulously, better grip on camera with a heavier lens, fit`s on tripod (manfrotto 496rc2 head). why pay more for a canon unless maybe you`re a pro or someone with lost`s of money to throw away!

Comments about Vello BG-C1 Battery Grip for Canon EOS XS, XSi, and T1i:
Just used a few times since I bought the grip.
Love the way it handles When shooting portrait, not in the way when shooting landscape. A little cumbersome when first tried, but adapted easily after a few shoots. Fit camera w/o a problem and easy to set up. Not a technical type of person so the simplicity was a nice feature.

This grip feels just like the Canon grips I've had for my other camera! Only snafu has been the 6-AA battery option pack..the battery indicator on the camera LCD flashs and wont give you an accurate read even with a set of new batteries.
