Vello BG-C4 Battery Grip for Canon EOS 7D
The Vello BG-C4 is a battery grip designed for use specifically with the Canon EOS 7D digital SLR camera. It accepts up to 2 LP-E6 batteries to effectively double the camera's battery life. The included AA battery holder allows you to use 6 AA batteries for added convenience. The BG-C4 offers an alternate shutter release button, AF start button, AF point selection, AE lock/FE lock button, multi function button, and main dial to facilitate shooting in a vertical orientation.

My old one took a bath in the Dead River and the camera just didnt feel right without the grip, and the knowledge of not having to worry about running out of power.

I bought this because I had been wanting to add a grip to my kit for awhile but couldn't justify the cost of the Canon grip. I have never used Canon's grip so I can't compare but there were a few things I wish could be improved.
1) The front inside portion of the handle is much more square than the handle built into the 7D. That makes it feel a little odd.
2) The buttons are not nearly as nice as those on the 7D itself. They feel plasticy and are a little stiff.
All that being said, as a whole it feels solid and the texturing is rubber and identical to the camera.

I've only had the Vello BG-C4 Battery Grip a few weeks now and it works like a charm! Easily the best accessory for long trips or all day shoots. Can't believe I went as long as I did without the Grip. It does add an extra lb. or two but actually gives you more hand space to hold the camera. Easy to install on my Canon 7D. Highly recommended for anymore looking for more than a few hours of battery life.

Works as well as the Canon grip at a much lower price. Go ahead and buy it. Buy the off brand batteries as well. I'd never use non-Canon lenses, but these grip and batteries as just as good as Canon grips and batteries.

A perfect alternative to the Canon Model. The ability to shoot portrait in comfort is a plus also having the extra battery in there helps insure longer video shooting when needed. It also I think makes the camera easier to hold. The fact that you can use AA batteries in the grip makes for an ideal back up should your canon batteries run out. Most stores carry those batteries.

Great price for a good piece of gear. Works well and I have not noticed any interface issues with my Canon 7D. The "fit and finish" is not perfect...there is a small "lip" where the battery case attaches to the camera body. I've not tried the Canon battery case, so I don't know if this minor detail is unique to the Vello. The battery case works as advertised. The only operational anomaly I have noticed is that when using the shutter release on the battery case, it seems more sensitive than the one on the camera body. This is also a minor discrepancy, and it may disappear after more use. Overall, I would recommend this piece of gear.

This battery grip is straight up epic! It not only doubles the battery life, but it's easy to use and it enables you to easily take photos normally (Horizontally) and tilted to the side (Vertically) because there is another photo trigger button on the battery grip itself.

Love to have the battery grips not only for the extra battery life but i have big hands and it is much more comfortable for me to have one. My last one was a little different and felt cheaper as the shutter button went out quickly. This one is pretty comfy in my hand, the batteries load differently but i kinda like it. Everything seems to work fine for the price.

I have had the original Battery Grip for Canon (in a 5D) and this one. This time, I didn't want to spent full money on accessories such as batteries (I found that the private label ones works as well as the Canon ones, and at a fraction of the cost), grips, etc. It took me while to decide about the grip, I was originally concerned with the sturdiness of it since I use a Sun Sniper strap that is attached to the tripod socket and the camera is hanging all the time. But, anyway, I gave it a try and I have to say that I am impressed. I tested the grip over the weekend, shooting at a farm, and everything was great. I could not distinguish the difference versus using a Canon other than I would be paying twice as much. I also used the grip in a photo shoot for four hours, and again, everything worked fine. Probably, the Canon grip is better built and will last longer, but insofar, I haven't notice the difference. I am quite happy with this purchase, it came timely from B&H.

I use this to extend the battery life of my Canon 7D. I bought this because it was way cheaper than the Canon version. It works great, connects well, allows me to change out batteries while still recording so I never have to worry about dropping a shot. I have not used the Canon version but this works well, and the added benefit is you don't have to spend the extra cash just for the Canon name. This is a big plus whenever I travel or am out for long periods of time shooting, this gives me the added security of not having to wait for batteries to charge, I can simply lock and load and film my project.

This grip does everything the OEM unit does at 1/3 the cost. The build quality is excellent and all the standard functionality is available. It recognizes both batteries without issue and properly displays their data.
The only complaint (if you can call it that) is the rubber coating used is slightly different from tht on the 7D itself. It has a great feel and so it doesn't matter.
