The ThinkPad W701ds 17" + 10.6" Dual-Screen Notebook Computer from Lenovo is a true portable workstation, designed for the most demanding professionals. Perfect for photographers, digital artists, and mavens of video, the notebook's large 17" LED backlit widescreen display is unmatched in quality by any competitor. The 1920 x 1200 display features a 280cd/m² brightness rating, boasts a 600:1 contrast ratio, and covers 100% of the color gamut. The display can be calibrated at any time using the integrated huey PRO colorimeter by X-Rite.
Photographers and editors often use dual-screen configurations so they may work at peak efficiency. Normally this is not an option for working on the go, unless one is brave enough to haul an external LCD display around. The W701ds offers an innovative solution: a secondary 10.6" LCD, in portrait orientation, slides out of the right side of the monitor. Perfect for palettes, toolbars, and thumbnail views, this display can be angled for optimal viewing. The secondary display features a LED backlight, 768 x 1280 resolution, 230cd/m² brightness rating, 9:15 aspect ratio, and 190:1 contrast ratio. It covers 45% of the color gamut.
The computer also features an integrated Wacom digitizer tablet, built right into the palm rest. This 3 x 5" pad accepts input from the included pen, which conveniently stows in the notebook when not in use. Graphic designers, artists, and Photoshop aficionados will feel right at home using this convenient tablet.
Professionals are certain to appreciate the system's computing power. It features nVIDIA's Quadro FX 3800M GPU, with 1GB of dedicated memory. The card's full power can be leveraged by such GPU-accelerated applications as Adobe After Effects and Photoshop.
Processing is handled by a quad-core 1.73GHz Intel Core i7-820QM CPU with 3.06GHz Turbo Boost. The system is loaded with 8GB of memory, and features a dual-drive storage system: a 128GB SSD and a 320GB 5400rpm hard drive. You'll be pleased to know that the notebook features dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It supports ExpressCard/34 expansion cards, and features a DVD burner for disc burning. The integrated memory card reader supports many popular card formats, including CompactFlash, Memory Stick, and Secure Digital. The computer's 9-cell battery provides approximately 2 hours of runtime per charge. Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) is the installed operating system.
