I mostly use the notebook for everyday things (the internet and writing documents), so I am not demanding a lot of the computer. All the same, it has been very good in all tasks. It processes quickly, is very quiet and doesn't heat up even after hours of use (unlike past Acer models).
Some inconveniences:
-the built-in webcam does not rotate, so if you must adjust the image someone see of you in a video chat then you must move your whole screen, thus changing the image you see of the other person (however, often what you see still resembles what it ought to)
-the keys are rather flat and uniform, making it easy to mistake one key for another--no staggering to help differentiate and relieve your hands
-to go "Home" or "End" you must simultaneously press the function key--perhaps a feature normal in small notebooks and netbooks, but something that has proven more difficult to adjust to having moved from a large laptop
-the texture of the track pad can make it extremely difficult to use and cause malfunctions. This is easily fixed by adding a mouse, but I personally prefer track pads and am disappointed in the efficacy of this one.

Pros: The 11.6" form factor is light weight, portable, and stylish! Batery life is pretty good. Full 64 bit version of Windows 7. HD capable with HDMI out. Better overall performance than most Netbooks!
Cons: Comes bloated with unnecessary programs and software. Screen and mantel are glossy which is too reflective and can often cause glare and show fingerprints. Slow to respond touch pad scroll bar and multi gesture. Squeeking/chirping noise is heard in quiet rooms (i found very annoying). Also slight vibration is felt through the palms when resting them to type.
This looks great on paper, but the little problems in this little machine wont allow me to rank it 5 out of 5. (very close to 4 though)

Comments about Acer Aspire AS1551-5448 11.6" Notebook Computer (Mesh Black):
Bought this to replace my 10 inch Acer Aspire (which was graphically and power challenged). This one has much better video capability. I use Microsoft Streets & Trips regularly for my work and had problems running it on my old netbook. Windows 7 is a big plus. It's small and thin enough for easy portablilty but runs much more like a laptop. Battery life is better than a laptop but not as good as netbook (which is exactly as I expected). Have had this one now for more than 6 months and I still love it.

acer as1551 11.6" laptop review:to give justice to the product, spec wise, it says something. however, hardware wise, totally bad! do not buy it!i bought mine in the US during my vacation and after a month of use i noticed clicking sound on the left lcd latch. didnt mind it coz i was about to go back home and thought that there's a warranty coverage. then the bigger problem happened when they did not honor the warranty due to restrictions of ITW which in the first place not included in the product specs. meaning the product i bought for [$] became a trash instantly! repair cost of more than $100 so i decided not to use it. well done Acer, for selling junk hardware!

I use the notebook to:Watch Videos,typing & Research.
Streams HD videos very well, keyboard is great for my big hands, design is the best of all little notebooks I've seen.Window 7 home premium is a breath of fresh air very portable for the value pack inside.
touch pad would give even the blind man problem, very annoying design for scrolling page up and down. the synaptic software that let one customize the touch pad is a horrible buggy piece of program;they should just leave it out in the future or get someone who can just make a software that don't change function without you doing it. Battery life could be better but depending on use you may get 3hrs and 30 minutes.

Turns out to be alot of computer for the money. While I highly recommend getting a gaming console(wii,ps3, etc) for gaming, you can get by to a certain degree with less demanding games on this computer. Highly portable, battery run time is about standard--ie it won't really get better for any other brand in it's class. We took this to the beach and uploaded photo's in the room every night.

Comments about Acer Aspire AS1551-5448 11.6" Notebook Computer (Mesh Black):
compared to the AS1810t-8488, this has a poorer build quality in view of the sacrifice to thin design & light weight. The heavier 11.6" AS1810T exhibits a questionable sturdy and almost classy look overall, with a rather wider body, with its SU7300 intel executing IMO faster. As for the K625 it runs comparatively a tad slower. It is worth mentioning that nothing (not even the LCD, or the KB touch) beside the thin look of the As1551 would make you to lean toward this Turion-based 11.6" laptop when you still have to option to get a (pricier) AS1810T. For folks that favor portability (over build quality) maybe the AS1551 has an edge (3.2 lbs versus 3.9 of the 1810T), but for a bit of weight and wider body, the AS1810T-5448 IF priced right, would be a serious challenge. Note also that the bezel of the 1551 is plasticky and non-descript, while the cover lid w/ its blk mesh is nowhere as nice as any thing Asus offers, not to mention the high gloss of the Samsung N510... however, the overall performance short of being compared to the 1810T (which also have 4G Ram) is quite acceptable, albeit not stellar.
