TiVo Premiere is much more than a DVR. It connects to your cable service and replaces your cable box. Besides a cable box you get a movie box, a web box, and a music box. Record your favorite shows and discover new ones with TiVo's new HD interface. Control live TV with pause, rewind, slow-motion and instant replay functions. Record up to 45 hours of high-definition programming with this digital video recorder. With TiVo Premiere you have an entire universe of on-demand movies, TV shows, web videos, and music at your command - all in one place, all just a few clicks away.
The new TiVo Premiere will function as exactly as the company's last boxes did, but add streaming Netflix, Blockbuster Demand, YouTube and Amazon Video on Demand to the mix. It will also support streaming music and Web photo galleries through Picasa, Rhapsody, Music Choice, Photobucket, and Live365, and access locally stored music and photos across a network (a monthly service fee is required to use this unit).

Comments about TiVo Premiere:
I primarily got this product to receive over-the-air HD to my HD monitor which has no tuner. I think I would have been better off with something that does not have a service fee. Recording content has been fairly easy, but nothing to wow me with. This will probably go on sale to an online auction that can't be named here after a year.

Comments about TiVo Premiere:
This box must be connected to the internet to be updated. There is an ethernet plug but I use it with the wireless connection. There isn't an easy standby/off selection. I use it with a cablecard through Innovative Cable in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands and noticed a remarkable increase in clarity from the cable box. Re-locking parental controls is clumsy and a couple layers deep in the menu; since there isn't an "off" button it re-locks after 4 hours or manually.

Comments about TiVo Premiere:
Super easy set-up, no need to worry. Pretty much idiot-proof. If I can do it, so can you. This DVR is a lot better than the one from the cable company, and it works just great with only the roof antenna. Streaming Netflix is fantastic, fast, and fun.
